ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan persepsi dokter gigi

dan masyarakat awam terhadap variasi proporsi vertikal sepertiga wajah bawah
pada ras Deutro Melayu.
Metode penelitian ini adalah analitik komparatif dengan desain potong
lintang. Foto profil wanita ras Deutro Melayu dengan proporsi vertikal sepertiga
wajah bawah yang normal dimodifikasi secara digital dengan menambah dan
mengurangi tinggi Sn-Me dengan interval 5%, sehingga diperoleh 5 variasi
proporsi. Sebanyak 28 dokter gigi dan 28 masyarakat awam berusia 25-59 tahun
melakukan penilaian terhadap masing-masing foto dengan menggunakan Visual
Analogue Scale (VAS).
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan bermakna antara
dokter gigi dan masyarakat awam terhadap proporsi sepertiga wajah bawah 10%
lebih tinggi dari posisi normal. Baik dokter gigi maupun masyarakat awam
memilih proporsi vertikal sepertiga wajah bawah 0% (normal) sebagai proporsi
yang paling disukai.
Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah terdapat perbedaan persepsi dokter gigi
dan masyarakat awam terhadap proporsi vertikal sepertiga wajah bawah pada
profil dalam hal kekritisan penilaian, namun terdapat kesamaan dalam pemilihan
proporsi wajah yang paling disukai.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to determine the differences in perception

between dentists and lay people in the variations of vertical proportion of lower
facial third on Deutero Malay race.
This was an analytic comparative study with cross sectional design. Facial
profile photo of woman with normal lower facial third were modified digitally by
increasing and decreasing her Sn-Me height by interval of 5% to obtain 5
variations of proportion. Twenty-eight dentists and 28 lay people (25-59 years)
scored each photo using Visual Analogue Scale (VAS).
The results of this study showed that there was a significant difference
between dentists and lay people in increased vertical proportion of lower facial
third to 10% from normal position. Both dentists and lay people tended to favor
0% (normal) vertical proportion of lower facial third.
In conclusion, there were significant differences between dentists and lay
people perception regarding evaluation criticality toward vertical proportion of
lower facial third in facial profile, but dentists and lay people showed the same
preference for vertical proportion of lower facial third.
