I remember when I was about 6 years old I had a book shelf in my room that covered
the whole wall. It was filled with all sort of books. I would sit and mostly look at the pictures
reading the words every few pages. The first time I really read was when I was in second grade.
I had to read books based on my reading level and take quizzes over each book so that I could
earn AR points.

Reading has influenced my writing by being able to recognize a well written paper.
Reading helped me distinguish what I was doing wrong in my writing by examining others
writing. I currently don’t have any favorite authors. I like reading all genres of books.

My writing process is very out of whack. I will just put the first few things that come to mind
and try and think of as much as I can about a certain topic. Sometimes it works, and sometimes
I have to start over. I then pic a topic or two for each body paragraph and write as much as I
can.
The reason why I chose these four essays was because its shows how my writing
progressed over time. My most recent writing was artifact 1, which was called “Oklahoma’s
Education Crisis”. Oklahoma education has meaning to me because my mom is an Oklahoma
elementary teacher. My mom works so hard to make sure her students are getting the
attention they need, while taking on more than one person’s work load. I also, went to a small
public school in Oklahoma. We had many problems within our school system, but no one ever
seemed to address the problems.
My artifact 2 is called “I’m still Learning”. I wrote this my first semester of college in
Composition 1. I chose this topic because I’m always learning new things each and every day
about life and about myself. When I was going into my first semester at college I thought I had
everything figured out. However, I faced many obstacles and failures
Artifact 3 is titled “Family in Disguise” I chose this essay because it reflects who I am as a person
and what has built me throughout my life. I’ve learned many good things while playing sports.
I’ve learned to always have good sportsmanship, work hard, and put in effort to see results. It’s
a lot like life.
Artifact 4 is a memoir that I wrote my senior year of high school. It chose this essay
because It wasn’t well structured and I wanted to compare some of my recent work to one I
wrote in high school. I chose these essays and put them in order from artifact 1 being well
structured to my last artifact not being so well structured. Also, all of these essays have
meaning to me in some way and explain who I am.
