opportunity to learn. It is the teacher’s job to create a classroom environment that harbor and
develop the skills necessary to respectfully participate, engage, and interact with all aspects of
learning.
TPE 10 Focuses on instructional time. Instructional time may be one of the most
valuable commodities to a teacher. Teachers must plan each lesson and unit based on the
amount of time they have in one class period or in a week or in one year. It is always better to
over plan than under plan, however as we can see in artifact 1 over planning can get a little out
of control. Artifact 1 Is a teacher mentor enhancement of a one week lesson plan I designed. In
this artifact I display the importance of time management on a day to day scale and how one
week can throw an entire unit off schedule. My original one week lesson plan covered at least
two weeks worth of content standards and material. Effective planning and execution are vital
for student mastery of the overwhelming amount of state content standards there are.
Learning Time. I figured in artifact 1 I would display a good example of poor classroom time
management with a critique and in artifact 2 I would use the article review to research some
strategies that will improve my time management skills. The article provides strategies that will
help me improve my time management skills as well as help display understanding and
alignment of the TPEs. Effective classroom procedures, smooth transitions, clear directions, and
solid classroom management strategies are all time savers and defense against distractions
throughout a period.
