Questions:
1. Where do plastic bottles begin their life’s journey?

1. The first journey of the plastic is on the oil refinery factories as the place
where they create.
2. After that, The plastic is come from the chemical bonding consist of gas
molecule and also oil molecule
3. Then, They create long polymer chains by the bonded of the monomers.
Because they need millions of pellets that create by the long polymer.
4. Next, the millions of pellets going to the manufacturing plants and reformed
for creating the pellets in the melt condition so will be easier to create the
shapes the bottle's structure by using molds to create the resilient materials.
5. The last is cooling process machines filled the plastic with water or sweet
bubble liquid and wrapped
2. What are monomers?
The monomers is come from the name mono means one and can be bond with
other similar molecules to create more or create polymer chains. The simple
example is the bottle, carpet, and toys create by plastics.

3. Explain what happens to Bottle 1.

Bottle 1 is the waste plastic or bottle that collected into landfill. When they
collected it need 1,000 years to decompose. However, the bottle 1 is also
collected with other layers of trash. Rainwater flows through the waste and
absorbs the water-soluble compound from the waste. The rainwater also absorbs
bad chemical toxic that will create leachate. This is very danger liquid because can
spread into the ground water, soil, and rivers, and poising many things include
fresh water.

4. What is leachate?
Leachate is the extraction of soluble or any other component of the material
through which it has passed or suspended solids.
5. How many years does it take for Bottle 1 to decompose?
The bottle 1 is needs 1,00 years to decompose.

6. Explain how Bottle 2 ends up in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.

Bottle 2 is discarded and reaches a stream goes to the river and of course the
rivers will go to the ocean. The bottle 2 will float at the ocean for a month. After
that, the bottle 2 slowly drawn into the vortex, where the trash accumulates. The
place called the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.

7. How is plastic detrimental to marine animals and birds?

The easy one is from the great pacific Garbage Patch, which is the place of the
bottle, was collect and it caused sea bird entangled by the plastic at that place. In
addition, animal sometimes doesn’t can see the different between the plastic-
waste and their food. It’s can found from the several fish or turtle that scientist
find with plastic inside their body. That plastic can causes death for the animal
since it is not good things and hard to decompose.

8. Humans may eventually ingest the plastic from Bottle 2 – explain how this may
happen.
The plastic waste in the ocean are involved into the food web. It goes through like
this:
1) Plastic was eaten by Small fish
2) The small fishes are eaten by a squid and also bigger fish
3) After that it could be human consume squid or the bigger fish
4) In the usual case they using Tuna as the example

9. Bottle 2 may break apart to become smaller and smaller pieces called: micro
plastics.

10. Bottle 3 has a different journey. Describe the process that Bottle 3 goes
through.
1) A truck brings bottle 3 into plant it is the place for recycled again for being raw
material.
2) Bottle 3 are press until create a flat block of plastic.
3) The blocks then shaped into smaller piece, which will be washed and melted.
4) Then, it will be raw material that can be use again.

11. What possible outcomes may the last bottle be remade into? Provide at least
3 examples.
1. Chair
2. Table
3. Bucket
4. Toys
5. Art hand create
6. Map folder
