What is Water Level Indicator?
The Water Level Indicator includes a simple mechanism which helps to detect and
indicate the water level in an overhead tank or any other water container. The
sensing is done by using a set of different probes which are placed at
different levels on the tank walls.
In this project we show the water level indicator using four transistors which
conducts as level rises, a buzzer is also added which will automatically start as the
water level becomes full. With the help of this project we not only show the level
of water with the help of three segment display but also a buzzer.

 Easy installation.
 Low maintenance.
 Compact design.
 The Automatic water level controller ensures no overflows or dry running of
pump there by saves electricity and water.
 Avoid seepage of roofs and walls due to overflowing tanks.
 Fully automatic, saves man power.
 Consume very little energy, ideal for continuous operation.

Hardware Description:
4 - BC547 transistors
6 - 220 ohm resistors
3 - Color led
1 – Buzzer
5 - 9v battery + battery clip

Water Level Indicator Project Description:

This simple transistor based water level indicator circuit is very useful to indicate
the water levels in a tank. Whenever tank gets filled, we get alerts on particular
levels. Here we have created 4 levels (low, medium, high and full), we can create
alarms for more levels. We have added 3 LEDs to indicate initial three levels (A, B,
C), and one Buzzer to indicate FULL level (D). When tanks gets filled completely
we get beep sound from Buzzer.
Operation:
The operation of this project is very simple and can be understood easily. In our
project “water level indicator” there are 4 main conditions:
1. Low Level
2. Intermediate level
3. High Level
4. Peak Level

1. Low Level :
At low level which is first level in our project we have placed blue light.

2. Intermediate Level :
At intermediate level which is second level in our project we placed green
light.

3. High Level :
At high level which is the second most highest level we have placed
red light.
4. Peak Level :
At peak level where water is about to over flow we have placed a buzzer.
Conclusion and Scope:
Water tank overflow is a common problem which leads to the wastage of water.
Though there are many solutions to it like ball valves which automatically stop the
water flow once the tank gets full. But being an electronics enthusiastic wouldn’t
you like an electronic solution for it? So here is a simple and handy circuit which
will detect the water level and will raise an alarm upon getting the water tank full
or a preset level.
Water level Indicator can be used in Hotels, Factories, Homes Apartments,
Commercial Complexes, Drainage, etc.. Automatic water level controller will
automatically START the pump set as soon as the water level falls below the
predetermined level (usually 1/2 tank) and shall SWITCH OFF the pump set as
soon as tank is full. Fuel level indicator in vehicles. Liquid level indicator in the
huge containers in the companies.
