Asalam Alikum respected teacher and my dear class fellows!
I am Eman Tariq and today I am here to
talk to you about the topic “Transitive verbs”. Transitive verbs can be described as, “An action verb that is followed by a noun or pronoun that receives the action.” A transitive verb has a direct object and may also have an indirect object which indicates to or for whom the action is being done. Example without indirect object. For example, He sent a letter. In this sentence, sent is the transitive verb because it shows an action and have an object. Example with indirect object. As I have stated earlier, a transitive verb may also have an indirect object which indicates to or for whom the action is done. For example, He sent Robert the letter. In this sentence sent is the transitive verb because it receive a direct object, Robert is the indirect object which tells that the action is done for Robert and letter is the direct object on which action is being done. Lets take another example, She gave her class the lecture. In this sentence, gave is the transitive verb because it is showing the action and receives the direct object, the direct object is lecture and class is the indirect object.
