EXAMINING COMPUTER SCIENCE DEGREE:

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, almost every job in the industry of computer science
is showing growth well above the national average, an exciting vision for anyone interested in
obtaining a computer science degree. Before CIS, the students have the only option whether to
choose Technology or Software but nowadays there is a little bit confusion created among the
students interested in software development with their degree choices between Information
Systems and Computer Science.
To inform students and potential jobseekers, this report will examine, compare, and contrast
Computer Information Systems (CIS) and Computer Science (CS) by analyzing the following:
CIS is computer science for business. The degrees differ in the required core classes. CS requires
science core and CIS requires business core. Students who are better in programming and
technology, have good math skills can take Computer Science Degree. Students who enjoy
marketing and business with Computer knowledge will most likely take Computer Information
Systems Degree. Both CIS and CS entry level jobs require a Bachelor’s degree.
