Prose Passage
AP Literature

Estrella’s character was developed in many different ways, she was in the beginning all
to herself, she didn’t want anyone to bother her, however; she still wanted to learn what was
good about her personality trait, and what things she could have changed to make a difference
in her own life. Many people examined her to make her feel guilty about herself, it was like she
was feeling suffered in one way of the other, it was not helpful for her as she was a student like
everyone else. The question here is what is going on under the surface, why were the teachers
treating Estrella so differently from all the other students.

Estrella was learning about herself the harder way, she didn’t know that she was being
treated like that because she was ‘different’ in many terms. Estrella was a student whom was
migrated, and she was learning so little about herself in such little time. For her she didn’t know
how to impose her character on others, and to learn that she was a migrant students, she
needed to focus more on what she could have done to emphasize the type of knowledge she
was asking for, it was not fair for her to understand what she wanted to do for her not to feel
judged in any way or form.

A character who has no knowledge of what the future holds for her is depending to learn
more about herself than about others and how easy it could be to search about the type of
person she sees herself as. Figurative language adds more intelligence to Esteralls character
trait, makes it seem like she has a way of accommodating what she wants to learn rather than
what she is learning from the people around her. Most of the figurative language used in this
aspect was well respected to explain the details of emotions, where it is happiness or sorrow in
any form. It helped the reader to develop a theory about what finally Estrella’s character is going
to end up looking like.

When in the text it states “power of a function”, I felt like this was a way to describe how
Estrella was known as, she was seen as a person who has no empowerment over anything,
even over defending herself, it is like she didn’t have a word to say when she was being treated
as if she was not a human being like everyone else, however; the tone of the whole passage
changed and was interacted to seem as if it was going to be more of a positive outcome.

In the end, Estrella has much resilience over what was happening to her, and she
learned how to stay powered through all of what she has gone through, and how it might have
affected her life as a students, it still didn’t stop her from being the person she was, and she was
still proud of where she came from and the fact that she was a migrant child like any other child
was.
