Reflection

In my first semester I had not idea about what was coming I thought it was the same

as high school that if a student gives a homework or classwork to the teacher; the teacher

never say you have grammar errors please fix it for a high school teacher everything is

good also, in high school my English teacher don't prepare the students for all the huge

things that colleague means. To be honest I was scare for everything specially because I

don't have idea how introduce commas, semicolons and period, in others word I was

worried about my grammar. I was also worried that I always did the task at the last moment

and that I also used the translator because I did not have confidence in myself to do a task

or work without the translator in high school. My English teacher never bothered to tell me

that something I was bad or even never told me to learn to do things on my own because

she never cared for her everything was fine no matter how I had done it. but now I can say

that this is no longer the case for me because many things have changed favorably for me

and I have improved a lot in my English class 114A course, in my I have seen the changes I

have had so far.

In my English class I did three essays which little by little I was improving first I

started from below because I could not do the introduction of an essay, I did not know how
to do a thesis and much less a conclusion but for my portfolio we only have to include two

of these essays these essays show all the work I have done and how and improved my

writing my first essay is "How to live a better life with less materials things" that is about

how happiness is everything in life no matter what Materials also talks about how suffering

helps people find true happiness and how to enjoy the beautiful moments. In this essay I

first learned to go to the LRC because I had no idea how to do the introduction and

secondly how to make my thesis more effective also in this same essay I learned how to

organize everything to do a strong essay.

The second essay is, "How suffering transforms people to know true happiness

after feeling pain" This essay talks about how somehow pain and despair helps you get out

of everything bad also talks about how pain is something good in some way for know that it

really means happiness, also explains how to save the pain of the past in something secret

and not go back and continue suffering for the same. When writing this essay I realized that

I could not look for articles that were credible and that I needed those articles for my essay.

I also realized that it is still difficult for me to know where they are going, something that I

notice is also that I needed to go to the grammar lap to help me in my grammar.

I started to review everything for my portfolio reading each paragraph of the two

essays to see what was wrong with me and try to understand what I had written myself.

When the teacher gave them time to start doing it in class, I wrote down everything I was

going to do and also what I had doubts about. I was also writing what I would do to fix the

comments that the teacher had left on my paper, comments such as "please get help for the

grammar lap" also "check your facts" comments like these have helped me to go to the
grammar area to ask for help and to improve in some things; now I see back and I realize

how these comments have helped me a lot,

I can also say that in this portfolio and put the best of reviewing everything and

bringing everything is clearer so you can get a better grade. finally I believe that now my

paper is much better than before since now I have read it carefully and fixing my error and

grammar punctuation. Also, with the information added, I hope that whoever reads this

portfolio does not say "unclear sentence." In this course, I have learned many techniques so

that writing is better or stronger. One that my teacher told me a lot is to check, review,

review until it is as she wants it. I remember that in high school my teacher never

commented on my work of what I had to deliver, if I look back from who I was and now

how I write I can see a big difference, now I worry about reviewing my work to give The

best thing about me to get a job is to ask for help if I do not know something and I do it

better. I have put into practice everything I have learned in this class in my other classes,

for example in my anthropology class and in my education class; before my education

teacher left me comments as to review their work better but since I started to trust myself

and do the work as in my English class I have not seen any comments because now I

review them I read them until they are good I try the Way to go the LRC as my English

teacher recommends now I can say that I have noticed a big difference from high school to

now.

In an aspect that I am sure I have improved is in how to do an introduction, and a

conclusion because before I needed someone to have me to be able to do it before the

people who read my essays left comments like "no introduction" "the first paragraph does
not is introduction rather it is like a second paragraph "and this happened because I never

introduced what I was going to talk about in the essay, it just let me go straight to introduce

quotes and explain them. When I came to this English class as I said before, grammar and

punctuation I did not know anything and I worried a lot in high school I never paid

attention to the teacher because I knew that everything would always be good for my work

and also because I did not care at that moment I now understand the importance of

understanding where a comma goes when writing. While I was writing a paper or essay I

just guessed where I thought a comma was going and they never said anything to me in

high school, but now I have more or less the idea of where I can put a comma and where I

do not have to put it, another problem for me are the periods I had no idea where to put one

so just guess just where I went and there I put it. Before being in this class I can say that I

had no idea of what people understand when one has grammatical errors and how ugly it is

not to know how to write it well because no matter what an idea is, nobody will understand

it in the same way. It is not written well.

In conclusion this course has helped me to write better than I did before when I was

in high school or when I was just starting out. Before I wrote to get out of the commitment

to deliver a job now I see the importance of writing well and transmit good vibes to people

who read my work, I think my best work now I have left in this portfolio where I have put

all my knowledge to review it, review it and then polish it. Now I can find errors more

easily than I did before. I am very grateful to have learned so much in this course because if

I have grown up as a writer and now I see the importance of everything that the teacher of

this course teach us in each class.
