Preface

The present work is the Bibliometric Study of the Ph.D. thesis entailed as “A
Bibliometric Study of Ph.D. theses in Library & Information Science on Pro Quest
Dissertations and Theses(PQDT)” is prepared and submitted to the Department of
Library and Information Science, University of Lucknow, Lucknow in partial fulfillment
of the requirement for the Master degree of Library and Information Science.
Precisely, the focus of this study is on obtaining the Pro-Quest Dissertation & thesis A
& I. The main objective of this study is to investigate the Year wise Distributions,
Country and State wise Contribution, Productivity Supervisor and Institution Distribution
and Subject wise Distribution etc.
The present study is organized into five chapters:
The first chapter deals with the conceptual framework of the research topic such as
importance of Bibliometric, definition, Scope, objectives, historical views, Analogous
Terms.
The second chapter deals with the discussion of the related literature.
The third chapter deals with the objective, scope and methodology of the study.
The fourth chapter deals with the analysis of data, including the interpretation and
graphical representation the data.
The fifth chapter is an attempt to analyse the present Ph.D. thesis and it includes findings,
conclusion and some suggestions.
