TYPES OF BEARD
OBJECTIVE:

We want to observe that what kind of beard people are having now a days, do they follow

trend pertaining in market or they are following their own heart

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

This study was conducted to check the trend of facial hair or beard types people are mostly

having now a days. We have decided to visit three big shopping mall in Lahore, to observe

people. We choose the entering point of mall as our point of collection data. We have tried to

collect data in different time slots. As we were conducting observational study so we were

bound to not talk to anyone. We have observe almost 600 people for this study. The reason for

choosing these malls was that almost every age of people visit there to do shopping, so they

can be a good source of data. We have divided beard or facial hair in four major categories i:e

full beard, trim beard, clean shave and moustache / French cut. Our analysis shows that trend

of trim beard is more common in people now a days as compared to all other forms. And

people with full beard were least in the study.

OBSERVATION STRATEGY:

We have decided to visit the Lahore biggest and busiest shopping malls these are packages

mall, emporium mall, and hyper star (in fortress)

COLLECTING DATA:

We have observed almost 600 peoples in the week. These malls or recreation areas are best

place to observe people because here we can see people of different culture, religion, place, so

there preference do change about their face look. As of now trend prevailing in Pakistan is that

most of the people tends to have trim beard, some like it for fashion, and some just to look

good or handsome. But the choice of having beard is purely depend upon once own thought or

image of himself. We have seen a mix trend of types of beard in different age groups, we can’t

simple fix a specific age group with specific type of beard. We have also seen a man with age

approximately of 40, but he is clean shave, we have observe a teenager of age approximately

20 but he ie having a full beard, just because he is more lean towards religious aspect of beard.

So we cannot associate any type with specific age limit.

TYPES OF BEARD

FULL BEARD:

By classifying it as full beard we mean a person who is a having a beard on his face as per

religious aspect of beard. It mostly assumes to be cover full face with length that is that much

significant that can been seen from distance even. Picture attached for better understanding.

TRIM BEARD:

In this observational study we have actually taken two to three different bread styles under

trim beard umbrella. (Pictures attached). Normally beard which covers the whole face but face

hairs are two shorten in length that they seem to be tighten up with face.

CLEAN SHAVE:

As name suggest clean shave means the person who is not having a single facial hair. People

find it easy to have clean shave then to maintain facial hairs. For them its time consuming.

MOUSTACHE AND FRENCH CUT:

In this category we have combines two form of facial hairs, one is moustache and second one is

French cut facial hair.

People Shows Trend Through Their Style:

It can be easily observed that the facial hair style or beard style of people reflects their inner

thoughts or their liking, their mind shift. For example in our country Pakistan if a person is

having full beard that easily reflects that the person is more directed towards Islam, where as if

a person is having trim beard or French, that up to some extent reflects that he is having more

tendency towards fashion or looking handsome

Analyzing Data:
Our analysis is true based on the primary data collected by ourselves.(observational technique)

we have tried to observe as many people as we can.

1. OBSERVATION AT HYPER STAR (FORTRESS LAHORE)

We have started our observation at Hyperstar fortress Lahore at 6.00pm, and continued it till

7.45pm, in this time period we have observed 210 persons entering the mall. Our observational

data can be better understood by below chart/graph

2. OBSERVATION AT PACKAGES MALL (LAHORE)

We have started our observation at Packages Mall Lahore at 3.30pm, and continued it till
5.30pm, in this time period we have observed 200 persons entering the mall. Our observational
data can be better understood by below chart/graph.

3. OBSERVATION AT EMPORIUM MALL (LAHORE)

We have started our observation at Emporium Mall Lahore at 8.00pm, and continued it till
10.00pm, in this time period we have observed 200 persons entering the mall. Our
observational data can be better understood by below chart/graph

DISCRIPTIVE ANALYSIS:

As shown in above graphs, it can be easily seen that people now a days have more tendency

towards trim shave. Following trim second is clean shave. Out of 600 people observed 245

people (40%) were having trim shaped beard. The main reason behind this is the fashion trend

prevailing in our society now a days. The ratio of trim beard is more because trim beard have

more styles than any other form of facial hair. The result f our observations shows that after

trim style beard second most prevailing form of facial hair is just clean shave, 25% of our

subjects were clean shaved. The reason we can perceive that people thought that for being

professional look one must be clean shaved and also some people find it difficult to maintain

trim shave, for them it’s easy to remove all facial hairs. Third one coming in the list is

moustache and French cut, the combination captures the 20% share of our observational data.

And last one the list is full beard that covers only 15% of our data, it also shows the dilemma of

our society that the ratio of full beard is low in a Muslim society.

CONCLUSION:

At the end of observation we conclude that every person has its own choice of having beard in
different style regardless of age or profession. These types can’t be allocated to specific age
group. Because everyone has its own choice. Some people use to have beard as they are more
tendency towards Islam, and so on. Some people use to have beard or trim to look mature, so
there are many reasons for this.
