Important Communication: Muddenahalli Group’s proposed visit to Mauritius

“There are some people who are doing business in the Name of Sai. They are cheating others, pretending
to be devotees of Sai. I do not approve of such behaviour. They are not devotees at all. They are going to
different parts of the country and also abroad to make money in the name of Sai. It is a big crime. I do not
ask for even a single paisa from others. I never approve of such business. Whoever it may be, if somebody
approaches you with such a crass motive, tell him to get out at once. Do not allow business to enter the
field of spirituality.”
-Excerpts from Discourse given on 22 July 2002 during International Seva Conference at Prasanthi Nilayam

Dear elders, brothers and sisters,

Our most loving and respectful sairams to all of you and to all those near and dear to you.

We sincerely hope this important communication finds you well and in excellent disposition.

It is a great feeling to be part of this wonderful Sai family and to share the same values,
principles and objectives as taught by our Beloved Swami. We will never be able to express in
full measure our gratitude to Bhagavan for this divine bonding and the fraternal ties that unite
us.

As guardian of the Sai Ideal, it is the dutiful task of the National Council, Sathya Sai
International Organisation-Mauritius to protect, preserve and promote the fraternity,
solidarity and unity of purpose of the larger Sai Community composed of members of the
organisation, devotees and followers of the teachings propounded by our Lord. We have
therefore, at this juncture, to caution all of you against some dangers lurking around.

We are in presence of confirmed information that a group of imposters from the Muddenahalli
faction will be visiting Mauritius from 11 th to 14th December 2018. We are also aware that they
have a few local followers (including a former Council member) who have been contacting
members and devotees of our organisation in a bid to enlist their participation and support in
their proposed programme(s) here. We have strong reasons to believe that the imposters will be
engaged in unlawful activities such as unauthorized collection of funds, coercion, lies and misuse
of name of the Bhagavan and the organizations He has set up. They would most probably use a
calculated approach to try convincing or influencing targeted devotees or other individuals to
join them or facilitate and sponsor their fraudulent schemes.

As you are already aware, the group operates on the basis of the totally fallacious claim that the
pseudo-spiritual leader, Mr Madhusudan Naidu is able to communicate with the light or subtle
body of Bhagavan or that Swami’s ‘spirit’ is now domiciled in his physical body, pending the
advent of the Prema Sai Avatar. They would invariably brandish social projects to ascribe a
tint of legitimacy to their shameful scam

We have therefore to remind all of you that

1. Bhagavan has repeatedly and vehemently forewarn devotees that He does not
communicate or interact through mediums, representatives and all these claims are totally
unfounded and misleading.
‘There is another set of people who trade on your faith. They advertise that I am
'talking' through a medium or some other thing. Treat all such people and their
agents or brokers as you treat cheats; if you do not treat them so, then you are also
accomplices in the cheating process.’
Divine Discourse on 21st November 1988 at Prashanthi Nilayam

2. Public collection of funds, appeals for donations or contributions in cash or kind or

canvassing devotees for money, in any form, is NOT permitted in any case and should be
NOT condoned in any manner in our organisation.
‘There are others who gather groups of followers and admirers and collect money.
They even declare, ‘Baba sent me to you to take from you some money’ or ‘Baba has
given me this’ or ‘Baba blessed me specially thus and thus’ and then ask for your help
or your praise or your purse! I ask you to chastise all these types of men and turn them
away, whoever they are.”
Divine Discourse on 21st November 1988 at Prashanthi Nilayam

3. Our Beloved Lord has also set clear parameters for service activities project
implementation.
‘When service is undertaken by power-hungry people, or under compulsion or by
imitative urges, it results in more harm than good. Self-aggrandizement or competition
or ostentation are motives that will pollute the sacred Sadhana of Service. The
candidate for this spiritual activity has to avoid ahamkara (egoism), adambara
(exhibitionism) and abhimana (favouritism).’

Divine Discourse, Nov 21, 1986.

4. Our Organisation operates and functions as divinely guided by Bhagavan and members
work and serve in strict conformity with approved functional, operational and structural
guidelines, which may be reviewed from to time. Activities and programmes are
governed and regulated by the Permanent Charter which Swami granted to the
Organisation in 1981. It is herein unequivocally stated that His name should be not used
by persons or entities other than those who are duly and affiliated to the Organisation.
‘In order to enable the Organisation to be one in Deed and Name, every constituent of
the Organisation must compulsorily affiliate with the Organisation in such manner as
may be expedient from time to time and in the absence of such affiliation no person or
body of persons, calling themselves Sai devotees, shall be entitled to use the name of
Sri Sathya Sai Baba in any spiritual activities.
The Membership of the Sri Sathya Sai Organisation or of any Unit thereof shall be
purely voluntary and hence it cannot be claimed as a matter of right. All rights and
privileges are reserved by the Organisation.’
-General Principles, Permanent Charter, SRI SATHYA SAI ORGANISATIONS

We there urge all members and devotees, as recommended by both Sathya Sai Central Trust,
India and the Prashanti Council:

(a) Not to have any connection with the Muddenahali group and the trusts
and institutions/organisations started by them.
(b) To stay away and not be misled or trapped by persons acting on their behalf or
working for them
(c) Neither to respond to any call or request made by any individual(s) of or close to the
group nor to provide funds, participate in activities or assist the group
(d) Not to hesitate to contact us and seek help and guidance at any moment in case of
doubt, misunderstanding or lack clarity in any issue pertaining to the Muddenhalli
group
(e) To notify the SSIOM leadership of any attempt to misuse the sacred names of
Bhagavan and of the Organisation or to enroll devotees in their plot
(f) To exercise extreme vigilance against the illicit and immoral deeds of the group
(g) To show unity, cooperation and cohesion in our efforts to fight wickedness
(h) To have full and unswerving faith in Bhagavan and to remain at all times faithful to
his Divine Commands.

Dear members an devotees, these may be trying times for us but our devotion to Bhagavan will
certainly be more than adequate to allow us go through them serenely and bravely. Let us show
fortitude, poise and one-pointedness in our conduct.

We thank you for your unflinching support and we pray to our Beloved Lord to continue to bless
us and protect us against all forms of spiritual deviance.

“There are some who extol others for the absurd reason that Sai Baba speaks through them! How silly? It
is all drama which cheats sick minds. Do not fall a prey to these. That is why I say, keep your devotion
within yourself, under control, and not be led away by crooks and self-seekers. These lead you astray by
giving you a wrong idea of the Lord's manifestation. They befoul the faith that their brothers and sisters
repose in God.”
