1.1 INTRODUCTION
1.1.1 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
Our concern is that the focus on the negative aspects of artificial intelligence. The impact of AI
on the society is a serious area of study for futurists. Academic sources have considered such
consequences as a decreased demand for human labor, the enhancement of human ability or
experience, and a need for redefinition for human identity and basic values.

1.1.2 INTRODUCTION:
Artificial intelligence is made up from two words “Artificial” and “Intelligence”. Artificial
means something that is not natural but is manmade, whereas intelligence means “the ability to
learn”. So, Artificial Intelligence means machines are able to make their own decisions
according to a particular situation. These machines work and respond like people. AI machines
also possess perception ability which makes them be able to sense the environment around it and
take the decision accordingly. Some machines even can understand nature language and perform
its actions accordingly.

On aggregate the basic aim for constructing AI machines is to reduce human efforts. Moreover,
to develop such machines which could perform human work this is dangerous for human lives.
Although it is very beneficial for the modern world but a world where robots, intelligent system
and algorithms are playing an increasingly central role will be viewed as a major threat to labor
markets.

1.1.3 BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

In 1941 the first electronic computer was developed.

Further in 1956 the field of “Artificial Intelligence” was found. Researchers from Carnegie
Mellon University (CMU) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and employees
from IBM met together and founded the first AI research. . These researchers made huge
progresses and they were optimistic about what they are doing. Herbert A. Simon of CMU
claimed that within twenty years the machines will be doing the work of man[1].

No matter how optimistic you are if you are not getting results people lose interest in your work.
It was around 1974 when the public lost their interest in “Artificial Intelligence”. This phase is
known as “The first AI winter”

Artificial Intelligence came back in the form of “expert systems”. Expert systems are programs
that answer question and solve problems in a specific domain. This system simulated the
knowledge and analytical skills of one or more human experts[1].

1
This was during 1985 when AI was at peak. In 1995, theVaMP car drove an entire 158kn racing
track without any help from human intelligence. In 1997, the first computer named Deep Blue
beat the world chess champion. In 1999, humanoid robots gained popularity. After this AI is
playing an important role in throughout the World Wide Web[1].

1.1.4 SIGNIFICANCES OF STUDY:

In the recent years the robot and PCs have done enormous jumps in their execution and abilities
and have supplanted more human occupations, a PC and robot that can work every minute of
every day with little pay, no advantages and significantly quicker with less mistakes is alluring.
As we can see that we depend on the machines to do nearly everything for us, to such an extent
they can possibly demolish our lives if something somehow managed to turn out badly likewise
if machines will perform every assignment superior to us in each viewpoint, they will take up a
considerable lot of our occupations which will then outcome in masses of individuals who are
then jobless and therefore feel basically pointless.

1.1.5 REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE:

Artificial intelligence obviously can’t provide us with that human touch and quality and may act
irrationally as a consequence. Despite all the good that Artificial Intelligence has done, but if it
falls into the wrong hands it is as dangerous as atomic bomb.

Now days we are completely under the spell of Artificial Intelligence. Everything in our
surrounding even the mobile phone in our hands uses artificial intelligence. We are giving the
technology the complete control to take decisions without human involvement. Autonomous
weapons are designed to kill which can cause mass casualties.

The AI is programmed to do well or something beneficial but the AI does not have a sense of
good or bad and in this it can choose bad way which seemed to be easy to achieve its goals.

We as of now have manmade brainpower innovation that can recognize malignancy quicker than
people and social insurance robots taking up the employments of the average medical attendant.

1.1.6 METHODS OF STUDY:

The Artificial Intelligence is beneficial as well as harmful for human. To get overview of this
whole scenario we used different sources to understand it.

1.1.6.1 SOURCE OF DATA:

The source of data is internet. The data is collected from different websites that are authentic.
Also different surveys were conducted; online Facebook poles were created to know about what
people think about Artificial Intelligence and its impact on their lives.

2
1.1.6.2 SAMPLE SELECTION:

The data that was selected on the basis of its relation to our problem statement.

1.1.7 SCOPE OF STUDY:

The focus of the report is to primarily study the influence of Artificial Intelligence and its impact
on human life. The study was not restricted to a single state or geographical region but is based
on the data from across the world.

1.1.8 LIMITATION OF STUDY:

The limitations of this study are that the method that I chose to conduct this study doesn’t cover a
wide range of people. It doesn’t speak for all humanity.

Also it doesn’t allow people to give their own point of view. They either have to choose between
the options that are given to them. This limits the effectiveness of the study

2.1 DISCUSSION:
Artificial Intelligence deals with helping machines to find solution to complex problems. This
generally borrows characteristics from human intelligence and applying these algorithms in a
computer friendly way. History demonstrates that new innovations can prompt awesome
increases for our economies yet are not without torment for a few people and groups. It has been
watched that there are various ways i.e. positive and negative, through which the community is
being affected. Although it is very beneficial for the modern world but a world where robots,
intelligent system and algorithms are playing an increasingly central role will be viewed as a
major threat to labor markets The advancement in artificial intelligence is also raising questions
about negative impact on jobs and personal privacy.

Between May 9 and May 11, 2018 the researcher at Brookings Institution undertook an online
national survey. The survey asked numerous questions. The responses were weighted using
gender age and region[2].

3.1 RESULTS:
People were asked different questions that how Artificial Intelligence is affecting their lives and
following are their Reponses.

The first question of survey was your own point of view regarding to the technology. Whether
you think it is having a positive impact on the society or not. The response from the survey
showed that mostly people are not positive about Artificial Intelligence[2].

Positivity
Very positive
Somewhat Positive
Not Positive

The next question asked was how Optimistic you are about the technology. The survey results
showed that mostly people are not Optimistic about this technology.

Very Optimistic
Somewhat Optimistic
Not Optimistic

Figure 2: Optimistic.

The next question was how much people are worried regarding to the technology. The results
showed that mostly people are worried about the technology as it is taking over the world and
they are worried that it might take over the humans someday.

No matter how good technology is, it is also invading your privacy. All your information is
available on internet. You are totally depending upon the technology for your survival. The
survey showed us that mostly people are not happy with the fact that their privacy is disturbed.

The job industry is highly affected by Artificial Intelligence. Though the machines reduces the
human load but in some areas it is taking over human jobs and people are not happy about it

The impact of Artificial Intelligence is causing people to take an action but now a days people
are lazy and they want their work to be done as soon as possible. The survey showed that people
want the government to regulate the flow of Artificial Intelligence, no matter how dangerous it is
for humans.

Where Artificial Intelligence is helping humans in their daily life tasks, it is also a threat that it
might take over the world one day.

Despite the negative outcomes of Artificial Intelligence it is making humans lives easier.

4.1 CONCLUSIONS:
From the above results it is proved that AI is affecting Human lives in positive as well as
negative way. Its negative affect is causing people to take an action. In conclusion, in the
modern society, people cannot live without those intelligence machines which could do hard and
dangerous works instead people. However if human hinge on those machines excessively, they
will ruin humans’ lives even the whole world. Remember a technology could beneficial for
humans but it also could be harmful depends on how people use it.

Basically our research is not only to elaborate the negativity of AI either we are not against the
development of Artificial intelligence because a country can’t survive without the development
of science and technology but the reason behind our study is to reduce its negative impacts.

5.1 RECOMMENDATIONS:
From the above findings, discussion and conclusion, we have concluded that AI is causing
distress in human lives. No matter how easy it is making their lives it is also making us worried
about our future. Some recommendations are

1. Policymakers should look at inventive propel: what it infers for their countries and
how best to intervene.
2. People should reduce involvement of Artificial Intelligence in their lives.
3. Policy maker need to think about how to deliver benefits to displaced workers.
4. Government should offer various programs in different institutions and offices
regarding the use of new technology so that they’ll easily manage to do jobs.
