Philosophy of Education
When I become a teacher, I believe that students should get to physically experience what
they are taught. For example, if I was teaching students how to wash their hands, instead of
talking to them about it I would have them get out of their seats and explain to them while they
wash their hands. I love more hands-on teaching. I feel like when students are taught with more
hands-on experiments it sticks with them more and they remember. If I had to teach something
that we were not able to do physically I would use a power point with pictures to make it not so
boring for them. I do believe in the curriculum on certain things, but I’m not always by the book.
I like to make things interesting and fun for students instead of always going by the book.
When it comes to different cultures in the classroom, I would have students who have
different cultures teach me about their specific culture and try to teach the class about them. I
feel it is important for students to learn about their peers’ cultures and where they come from. I
would celebrate the different holidays within their cultures in my classroom with all the students
and explain what it meant. This way they can be more prepared for the real world and the
different cultures in it. I would love to learn from my students about their backgrounds, it would
also help me on how to teach them to where they can learn. Although trying to learn different
cultures could be challenging for other students because of their different beliefs, it is good to see
Testing and assessments can be stressful for students, I have test anxiety so I know how
stressful it can be when it comes to testing. I would make a fun game with questions from the test
for us to play and learn at the same time. I would give the students a review over what will be on
the test and try to prepare them for it. Instead of just sending them home with the review we
would also do things in class to help them study. I know a lot of kids have trouble studying at

home, so we would make time to study in class also. When I was in school, I had a teacher who
would divide the students into two different groups and the teacher would ask us questions and
we would go down the line with a different question. If one team didn’t answer correctly, she
would go to the next team and give them a chance. Whichever team had the most points or
answered the most question correctly would win, and she would give prize. This helped me when
Students who feel like they’re part of a class with a teacher who is really concerned and
cares for them makes it easier for them to learn. They feel wanted and cared for. I want to make a
fun experience for them and still have them learn at the same time. I cannot wait to become a
teacher and share these memories and fun experiences with my class.
