Chapter III

METHODOLOGY

This chapter comprises the preparation of the tools and

materials, method, as well as procedure and statistical tool

used in the study.

Method of Research

The research is comprised of 4 essential phases or stages

namely the development of the bilimbi fruit juice machine, the

fabrication of the extracting machine, the testing and

verification of the bilimbi fruit juice machine’s features and

testing of the operation by using bilimbi fruit.

Design Criteria

1.) Quantity of bilimbi fruit

2.) Speed of time needed to extract the juice

3.) Volume of juice extracted in given quantity of bilimbi

fruit
Fabrication Process

The following were the steps and procedure in constructing

the bilimbi fruit juice extraction machine:

Procedures:

1. Gather all materials needed for construction.

2. Compute the dimension and cut the materials needed for

the machine.

Evaluation Procedure

The following test procedure were applied in evaluating the

press:

1. Place the machine in the safe place were it is no one will

get injured when something goes wrong.

2. Prepare the bilimbi fruit and the extraction machine to be

used before starting to squeeze.

3. Put the bilimbi fruit in the squeezer.

4. Pump the handle of the hydraulic jack.

5. Upon having compressed the fruit, the pulp will remain in

the squeezer and remove the remaining pulp.

6. Get the total amount of the juice during the extraction.

7. Measure the sample again.

8. Record and analyze or interpret the data gathered.


Description of device or machine to be tested

The bilimbi making process begins with the feeding of the

bilimbi fruit in the extraction machine.

Data to be Gathered

The study gathered data on the time required and quantity

of bilimbi and the measurement of the juice.

The table below will show the results of the trials that will be going

to conduct.
