General Information
For zeroing the axes and spindle must be present knowledge of CNC operation,
especially in the editing of machine parameters and the method of axes in the JOG
mode and MDAFurthermore, some tools for the task of the zeros are required, which
are listed separately in the directions of the axes.
Explanation of abbreviations:
HK corresponds to Hard Key / Direct selection button
SK corresponds to Softkey
*Remove / set User agreement: only axes with “Safety Integrated – Software”
To remove or set the “User agreement” you need the JOG / REF mode and the
key switch at position 3.
Then appear on the basic display “Machine” on the vertical SK bar at the top right the
SK “User agreement“.
To set the “User agreement” the corresponding axis must be referenced.
For the zeroing of the main axes, the following order is recommended:
1. B- Axis
2. X- Axis
3. Z- Axis
4. Y- Axis
At the cassette magazine, the X1 – and the Z1 – axes are zeroed always comprising
together because both axes influence the outcome.
It is recommended that you create after changing machine data or values in the

X – Axis (with distance-coded measuring system)
Required equipment:
Plug gauge (40 mm diameter, 350 mm length) for relevant spindle taper
Measuring stand
Dial gauge (0,001) or lever test indicator (“Puppitast”)
Pallet without clamping device
Relation item for the X-axis is the center of the spindle to the center of the pallet.
Therefore, the X-axis is zeroed to the value 0 mm.

Y – Axis (with distance coded-measuring system)
Required equipment:
Plug gauge (40 mm diameter, 350 mm length) for relevant spindle taper
Block gauge 200 mm length
Pallet without clamping device
Relation item of the Y-axis are the center of the spindle to surface of the Pallet.
- enter “G0 G53 X0 B0 Y220” and press "NC – Start": the X-axis moves to the
centre of the pallet (0,000 mm), the B-axis to 0° p osition and the Y-axis to
position [block gauge length + radius of plug gauge] which is used
(according to above used tools to the theoretical position Y=220)

Required equipment:
Relation item for the B-axis is the parallelism of the pallet to the Z- / Y-column.
- enter “G0 G53 X0 B0” and press "NC – Start": the X-axis moves to the
middle of the spindle (0,000 mm) and B-axis to 0°

X1- / Z1- Axis / Cassette magazine || NBH 630 up to NBH 1600
Required equipment:
Adjustment Tool for magazine places
Benchmarks for zeroing:
The reference point for zeroing the X1- and Z1 – axis is the 10th place on the
cassette 4 with the coordinates X1=1700,000 mm and Z1=4714,000 mm
Instructions for zeroing:
- Drive via JOG mode the magazine axes X1 and Z1 above the place 10 of
cassette 4
- Select at user interface “Manual”, “Tool Change” to clamp the 1st part of the
adjustment tool into the Handling Device
- Hang into place 10 on cassette 4 the 2nd part of the adjustment tool
- Select the line „Handling Device up – down” and lower the “bell”
- Move the magazine axes X1 and Z1 via JOG + INC100 until the adjustment
tools are aligned
- If the physical position is reached, set the new position via the "reference
set position"
- Enter in the Axis – MD 34100[0] the correct position of X1 - and Z1 – axis.
For X1=1700,000 mm and for Z1=4714,000 mm. These values are
transferred with the „RESET“- button
- Change Axis –MD 34210[0] from value “2” to value “1”and press “RESET”
- Activate „JOG+REF POINT“- mode and turn „Feed Override“ to 0%
- X1- and Z1- axis single reference now to apply the correction. (only
possible via MENU \ Manual \ Tool Prepare \ select X1-axis or Z1-axis)
- By pressing of the axis according + or – Softkey the value of Axis-
MD 34210[0] changes from “1” to value “2” (encoder is adjusted)
- The X1- and Z1- axis are now adjusted to the values of Axis-MD 34100[0]
- Repeat the measurement process as described above for control purposes

- Press HK „MENUE SELECT“ -> button “>” SK “Start-up” -> SK
“Password” -> SK “Set Password” > enter “EVENING” > press SK “OK”
-> SK “Machine data” -> SK “Axis MD” -> SK “Axis +” till WMT-axis is
selected -> SK “Search” + enter 34100 + “INPUT” -> enter value “0” +
“INPUT” and activate with button “RESET”
- SK “Search” + enter 34210 + “INPUT” > enter value “1” + “INPUT”
- Select JOG + REF mode > turn “Feed Override” to 0% > select WMT –
axis and press button “+ – direction”
- The MD34210[0] is automatically set to value “2” (encoder is adjusted)
- Select JOG and “Manual” to move “Double gripper” in basic position
The WMT – axis is thereby zeroed properly and can be driven in MDA or AUTO mode
