General Information

For zeroing the axes and spindle must be present knowledge of CNC operation,
especially in the editing of machine parameters and the method of axes in the JOG
mode and MDAFurthermore, some tools for the task of the zeros are required, which
are listed separately in the directions of the axes.

Explanation of abbreviations:
HK corresponds to Hard Key / Direct selection button
SK corresponds to Softkey

Explanation of the machine data / abbreviation

34090[0] Reference point shift

34100[0] Reference point value
34210[0] Status absolute encoder (1= Referencing mode active, 2= Referenced)
30500 Axis is indexing axis (0= Indexing axis inactive)

MCS Maschine Coordinate System

For changing Machine Data’s the password “EVENING” is needed.

*Remove / set User agreement: only axes with “Safety Integrated – Software”

To remove or set the “User agreement” you need the JOG / REF mode and the
key switch at position 3.
Then appear on the basic display “Machine” on the vertical SK bar at the top right the
SK “User agreement“.
To set the “User agreement” the corresponding axis must be referenced.

Recommended way of zeroing / Information:

For the zeroing of the main axes, the following order is recommended:

1. B- Axis
2. X- Axis
3. Z- Axis
4. Y- Axis

At the cassette magazine, the X1 – and the Z1 – axes are zeroed always comprising
together because both axes influence the outcome.

It is recommended that you create after changing machine data or values in the

“POS- program” a backup archive to NC.

Required equipment:

Plug gauge (40 mm diameter, 350 mm length) for relevant spindle taper
Measuring stand
Dial gauge (0,001) or lever test indicator (“Puppitast”)
Pallet without clamping device

Benchmarks for zeroing:

Relation item for the X-axis is the center of the spindle to the center of the pallet.
Therefore, the X-axis is zeroed to the value 0 mm.

Instructions for zeroing:

Select "MDA" mode

- enter “G0 G53 X0 B0” and press "NC – Start": the X-axis moves to the
Centre of the pallet (0,000 mm) and B-axis to 0°

Select “JOG” mode

- Set plug gauge in the spindle and advance the Z-axis with an empty pallet
- Position the dial gauge in the centre of the pallet sideways from the plug
gauge (move to approximately 15 mm from forward end of plug gauge)
- Determine the highest point on the side of
the plug gauge with Y-axis
- Rotate spindle and stop at the highest
point while rotating
- Set the value of the dial gauge to 0 µm
- Move Y- Axis via INC-VAR mode 180 mm
upward
- Move B- Axis via INC-VAR mode to 180°-
position and turn spindle also 180°
- Move Y- Axis via INC-VAR mode 180 mm
downward
- The user agreement of the X-axis remove
* (Photo as example from NBH 5)
- Divide the value of the dial gauge displayed by two and calculate it
according to the correct signs with the content of MD 34090[0] (reference
point shift of X-axis)
- You can use the calculator inside the control unit: press “=” key, then enter
the correction value, e.g. 0.215 and press “Input” key
- The entry is accepted by pressing the RESET button
- X-axis reference to apply your correction (pay attention to direction)
- The user agreement of the X-axis set *
- Repeat measurements process as described above for control purposes

219.825 = +0,175 mm)
- Calculate the deviation determined in this manner according to the correct
