Abstract. The water on earth is generally not in pure state (H20), but contains a variety of
materials, either dissolved or suspended, including microbes. Therefore, before consumption
water should be processed first to eliminate or reduce levels of contaminants to a safe level. The
quality standards of drinking water or water for household needs are stipulated in accordance
with the regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No.492 / MENKES /
PER / IV / 2010 regarding drinking water quality requirements. The aim of this study is to explore
students knowledge about quality assurance of bottled water they produce. The methodology of
this research uses quantitative survey method with explanatory survey method, the respondents
in this study are the students of class X SMK Negeri 2 Subang and the subject teachers who
teach in the APHP. The data has obtained from observation, interview, initial knowledge of the
respondent and the response of subject teachers. The results shown that students has mismatch
knowledge with teachers about how the product processing and quality assurance on the bottled
water they produce. The results of this study indicate that students less understanding the quality
of bottled water that they produce.

Abstract. Air yang ada di bumi umumnya tidak dalam keadaan murni (H20),
melainkan mengandung berbagai bahan, baik terlarut maupun tersuspensi, termasuk
mikroba. Oleh karena itu sebelum dikonsumsi, air harus diolah terlebih dahulu untuk
menghilangkan atau menurunkan kadar bahan tercemar sampai pada tingkat yang aman.
Standar mutu air minum atau air untuk kebutuhan rumah tangga ditetapkan berdasarkan
peraturan Menteri Kesehatan Republik Indonesia No.492/MENKES/PER/IV/2010
tentang persyaratan kualitas air minum. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali
pengetahuan siswa terhadap penjaminan mutu produk air kemasan yang mereka
hasilkan. Metodologi pada penelitian ini menggunakan kuantitatif metode survey
dengan penjelasan yang mendalam (explanatory survey method), responden dalam
penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X SMK Negeri 2 Subang dan guru mata pelajaran yang
mengajar di jurusan Agribisnis Pengolahan Hasil Pertanian (APHP). Data yang
diperoleh merupakan hasil dari observasi, wawancara, pengetahuan awal responden dan
tanggapan guru mata pelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan siswa di SMK Negeri 2
Subang dengan guru mata pelajaran menunjukkan adanya ketidakcocokan pengetahuan
siswa tentang bagaimana cara pengolahan produk dan penjaminan mutu pada produk
air kemasan yang mereka hasilkan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa SMK
Negeri 2 subang kurang memahami kualitas produk air kemasan yang mereka hasilkan.

Student conception about the Quality of Packaged Water

suspended, including microbes. Therefore before being consumed, water should be processed
first to reduce levels of contaminants to a save level. Standard of water quality for household
need (Permen No.492/MENKES/PER/IV/2010) is usually used as reference for drinking water
requirement. This preliminary study was carried out to investigate students’ conception about
packaged/ bottled water quality assurance produced by certain vocational schools as products of
their students. Explanatory survey method was used in this study to detect their conception
deeply. The respondense or participants of this study was ten graders from public vocational
school in Subang and their teachers in Agribusiness course. Data were collected through
observation, interview, and test for their preconception. Research results show that students’
knowledge about water ….. is not in line with their understanding about the water quality, and
their teacher’s as well.
