LCA standards - milestones

• The 1st LCA study was conducted by Coca-Cola USA in 1969-1970, related to
packaging options: ‘glass bottles’ vs ‘plastic bottles’ vs ‘cans’*

• Followed by LCA studies in UK (1972), Germany (1972), Sweden (1973)*

• Main drivers: packaging  waste …………. oil crisis in 1973

• International standard on LCA (ISO 14040: 1996) – rev: 2006 – SNI 2017

• Environmental product declarations (ISO 14025: 2006) – type III

ILCAN [National LCA Network] bersifat INDEPENDEN

• ILCAN tidak melakukan pekerjaan/penelitian/review LCA sebagaimana yang
dilakukan praktisi/konsultan/lembaga penelitian. ILCAN juga bukan lembaga
sertifikasi personal (LSP).

• Tugas utama ILCAN adalah menyelenggarakan seminar

(ICSoLCA), menerbitkan jurnal (IJoLCAS), menyelenggarakan training
(ITSoLCA).

• Dlm rangka membantu implementasi LCA, ILCAN menyediakan informasi ttg

resources LCA di Indonesia, diantaranya SDM LCA yang mungkin bisa
melakukan pekerjaan/penelitian/review LCA:
1. Penulis Indonesia yang menerbitkan artikel LCA di jurnal ilmiah terindex global
(Scopus dan WoS).
2. Penulis Indonesia yang menyusun disertasi S3 ttg LCA dari perguruan tinggi
dalam dan luar negeri.
3. Personal bersertifikat kompetensi-LCA yg dikeluarkan LSP.
4. Konsultan/lembaga penelitian dengan ruang lingkup kajian LCA.
