JOINT AFFIDAVIT OF WITNESSES

We, ATTY. LENY MAURICIO AND ANA MARIE PAMINTUAN, single, of legal age, Filipinos after
having been sworn to in accordance with law, do hereby depose and state that:

1. We are writers for a newspaper of general circulation called “The Philippine Star”;

2. In the height of its publicity, the editors of the newspaper tasked us to cover the
developments in the Vizconde Massacre;

3. We were assigned to interview accused Michael A. Gatchalian;

4. On 30 May 1996, the interview with Gatchalian took place at his residence. The interview
ran for about an hour or so;

5. Our article entitled “Gatchalian refuses state witness protection” covering all the issues
tackled in the aforesaid interview was published on 2 June 1996;

6. That we are executing this affidavit to attest the truth of the forgoing facts and for whatever
purposes this may serve.
 IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto affixed my signature this 31st day of July,
