INTRODUCTION
Social work is any service or activity designed to promote the welfare of the community and
the individual, as through counselling services, health clinics, recreation halls and
playgrounds or aid for the needy, the aged, the physically handicapped etc. Non-
governmental organizations, nongovernmental[ organizations, or nongovernment
organizations, commonly referred to as NGOs are usually non-profit and sometimes
international organizations independent of governments and international governmental

organizations (though often funded by governments that are active in humanitarian,
educational, health care, public policy, social, human rights, environmental, and other areas to
effect changes according to their objectives. Under the field work, as a student of MSW 2 nd
Semester, the trainee will be working under an NGO; OXFAM INDIA Bangalore.
Oxfam India work aims to ensure that the poorest communities have equal
opportunity, equal wages for work, and equal right over resources. It also builds the
resilience of communities to disasters and reduces vulnerability, particularly for
women and children.
Oxfam India campaign to make violence against women socially unacceptable. It also
campaign to secure 50% representation of women in public institutions so that women
have an equal say in decisions that affect their lives.
Oxfam India is also engaging with the public to promote active citizenship, and with
the private sector to encourage responsible business.

To work on the success stories of the organisation and create a PowerPoint
presentation on it.
To segregate the data of the individuals participating in Oxfam Trail Walker Event
from 2013 to 2019.
DAY 6: The trainee and the co-trainee started working on the success stories of the
organisation by going through the website of the Oxfam India.
DAY 7: The trainee and the co-trainee collected the data from the website, edited & compiled
the success stories of the organisation and submitted the presentation on the same day to the
supervisor. The trainee and the co-trainee worked on the individual data segregation of the
participants who participated in Oxfam’s Trail Walker Event from 2013 to 2019.
DAY 8: The trainee and the co-trainee worked on the data segregation of the individual and
completed one year of data i.e.2016. The trainee and the co-trainee also attended the fire drill
session and a session on sexual harassment at workplace.

The trainee also observed that some of the team member of the trail walker event
participated every year i.e. from 2013 to 2019.
Through the session of the sexual harassment at workplace, the trainee observed that
the organisation is providing a helpline number if any incident happens at workplace.
LEARNING
Through the success stories of the organization, the trainee learned that the
organisation tries to solve out the problems of every individual not only by their
activities but also by engaging people in different activities to make them self reliant.
The trainee learned to segregate the data of the individual of the Trail Walker Event
on MS Excel.
Through the fire drill session the trainee learned the methods and techniques to
respond quickly, calmly and safely if the fire breaks out in the organizations or any
other places.
The trainee also learned that there are many laws on sexual harassment at work place
and the action that can be taken with respect to that.
FEEDBACK
It’s been a privilege for the trainee to work under Oxfam India as a part of fieldwork project.
The trainee had a great experience and has got to learn many new things through the sessions
that had been conducted throughout the 2nd week of fieldwork. The trainee also got to learn
about the trail walker event.
