Presidential speech: 03/20/2019

“Leadership is not about the next election it is about the next generation.” --A
direct quote from Simon Sinek.
My name is Rhyanna Jauss and I am running for your next 2020 United States national
President. This election presents us with a clear choice. It is a choice between continuing things
the way they’ve always been done or electing a leader who can present fresh ideas and new
perspectives.
I believe that my experiences and personality will help me help you to succeed as a
country we’ve always aspired to become. I believe we have the power to make a drastic change
in our neighborhoods. Above all, I believe my most important job will be to listen to you and
communicate with you regularly.
Sounds good? Then let’s get down to business.
We live in an economy where we work paycheck to paycheck if we aren't careful, and
we struggle to stock our fridge with good food because what we should be eating is not in our
price range. Our kids start school with the same shoes they used from last school year because
we cannot afford to buy them new ones. Our paycheck doesn't go very far anymore. We have
priorities but no spare time for our families. Homelessness has shot up to an all-time high due to
a shortage of jobs and a lack of drug programs. This is not normal and we will never settle for
this. I plan to reduce unemployment ratings and boost the economy by creating more high
paying jobs. Housing prices are skyrocketing and there is not enough money to pay the bills.
Cost of living has exceeded the normal cost of living rates. As your president, I will ensure the
homeless population will decrease by creating more drug rehabilitation programs and housing
programs by a non- profit organization and/or churches. With our innovative spirits I know we
can achieve excellence. We need to come together to create a stronger us.
Now we are not a perfect country and frankly far from one, but there is always room for
improvement. Change starts from within and in order to be successful, we need to count
everyone in. We as a country we should stand against discrimination, we should not judge
based on someone's religious affiliation, the color of skin, or their place of birth. Our children
look up to us and we need to be aware of what we are teaching them. Become a role model for
them, be vocal and educate others on topics they may be unsure about. Do not let your silence
speak for you, stand up for what you believe is right. Make an effort to get to know people who
are different from you, we should appreciate and celebrate them. Instead of questioning and
criticizing someone's culture, research, it will enrich your relationship with your friends and
deepen your appreciation for your own. The more exposed you are to other cultures and beliefs
of your fellow neighbors the closer we get to put an end to discrimination and racism.
It is not news that these are rough times for immigrants, they are being blamed for the
shortage of jobs and criminal activity, but we are placing the blame on the innocent. The
immigrants are counted for at least half the population of our growing nation. They are the ones
working our most dangerous jobs such as mining, logging, agriculture, and construction. They
are building our country and they do not receive the credit they deserve. They are our
foundation yet living in the shadows of our nation because of their status. Immigrants who have
stayed for a particular number of years without criminal activities should be granted amnesty
because they are an important part of the American economy. Creating an amnesty is not just a
matter of sympathy or compassion but as an acknowledgment of the fact that immigrants are an
essential part of the nation’s economy. The immigrants work hard, pay their taxes and look
forward to a better life for their children and family. Instead of trying to divide our nation we need
to expand it out to those in need, families travel here for prosperity and the pursuit of happiness
and instead of conflict we need connection.
These are just a few things I know we can achieve together, the choice is yours, do you
strive for unity? Are your beliefs based on selfish reasonings or freedom and equality? As you
can see our future depends on our ability to work together. Cooperation and teamwork will get
us far. If you elect me as president I will lead with openness and honesty. I will always lead with
your best interest in mind. I welcome all ideas on making our country better for the present and
future. After all, we are America the Great.
