Goldilocks bakeshop is a bakeshop chain based in the Philippines which


produces and distributes Philippine cakes and pastries. (wikipedia.org)
Furthermore, Goldilocks was named after Goldilocks, a character from the
fairy tale Goldilocks and the Three Bears to make the name of the chain easier to remember
by children and their mothers. The name also suggests the words "gold" and "luck" which
was viewed to be auspicious. The naming was suggested by the founders' sister
Maria Flor. In 2010, Goldilocks underwent a full re-branding (wikipedia.org)
In addition, it is an establishment that produces and sells flour-based food
baked in an oven such as bread, cookies, cakes, pastries, and pies. Some retail bakeries are
also cafés, serving coffee and tea to customers who wish to consume the baked goods on
the premises. (wikipedia.org)
In the Philippines, the demand has grown for Goldilocks bakery and baked
goods while in the US, both Filipinos and non-Filipinos often come together to share a
meal in one of Goldilocks many family restaurants. (goldilocksbakeshop.com)
One of the fast moving consumer products in the food manufacturing is the
bakery which plays a major role in Socio-economic factors and made new technological
improvements in the recent times which moves ahead on building the nations growth and
brand image with the competitor products all over the country. (foodpathshala.ning.com)

Significance
Therefore, we conduct this study with three reasons. First, we want to
better understand the economic process undertakings. Second, to identify the business
social and economic dimension in the locality. Lastly, to inculcate the negative and positive
economic impact of the said business in the locality.
Statement of the Problem
1. What is the demographic profile of respondents in terms of the following:
a. Age;
b. Sex; and
c. Educational Attainment?
2. To what extent is the impact of _________________ in Bugallon, Pangasinan as
perceived by the respondents in terms of:
a. Social dimension; and
b. Economic dimension?
3. What are the recommendations and strategies on how to minimize and maximize
business’s negative and positive impact, respectively?

Scope and Delimitation


The study focused on the perception of the respondents on the socio-economic
impact of Goldilocks Bakeshop in Bugallon, Pangasinan.

Respondents of the Study


The respondents of the study are thirty (30) customers of Goldilocks Bakeshop in
Bugallon,Pangasinan.

In order to answer the stated problems, the following statistical methodologies were
used:

According to table 1, the majority of the respondents are female consisting of 60%
which rank as number one while male consist of 40% with the rank of two. It is notable
that there are more female respondents mainly because they prefer sweet products more as
compared to male shoppers.

According to the above table, the majority of the respondents belong to the
age bracket 16 to 20 years old which rank as number one consisting of 64% while the least
of the respondents belong to the age bracket 26 to 30 years old which rank as 6.5, the same
with the respondents belong to the age bracket 31 to 35 years old comprising the same
percentage of 0%. In equal ranks and percentage, respondents between the age bracket 10
years old and below, age bracket 21 to 25 years old and 36 above have the percentage of
3% and rank as number four. It is obvious that there are more respondents in the age bracket
16 to 25 years old that purchase products from the said business. It is mainly because 16 to
25 years old respondents have more time to go around outside just like shopping into a
bakery unlike the other age brackets stated above.

According to table 3, the majority of the respondents are high school


undergraduate which rank as number one which consist of 90% while the least of the
respondents are elementary graduate, high school graduate, elementary undergraduate and
vocational graduate which shares the rank six comprising the same percent of 0. It is
notable that most buyers are high school undergraduate unlike other respondents that
graduated from the educational attainment mentioned above. In addition, high school
undergraduates easily access to buy things outside directed by their elders that is why they
have more time purchasing products as compared to the other graduate levels.

The following are the indicators under social dimension of Goldilocks


Bakeshop in Bugallon, Pangasinan namely as follows: "The establishment helps in
alleviating poverty problem." with 3.13 weighted average mean that falls under "Neutral"
description; "The business helps in reducing unemployment problem in the locality" got
3.37 weighted average mean that falls under "Neutral" category; "The business promotes
and observes environmental protection with 3.53 weighted average mean that falls under
the "Agree" category; "The establishment observe labor-code laws and child-labor
protection" with 3.77 weighted average mean that falls under the description "Agree" and
"The business poses no threat in health problems in the locality with 3.70 weighted average
mean which falls under "Agree" category. It implies that the business performs well in
terms of social dimension. In addition, the table got 3.5 weighted average mean which falls
under "Neutral" category. Generally speaking, the respondents agree that the said business
helps in the locality.

The following are the indicators under the economic dimension of


Goldilocks Bakeshop in Bugallon,Pangasinan namely as follows; "The establishment helps
in promoting tourism in the locality" with 3.43 weighted average mean that falls under
"Neutral" category; "The establishment made available customers to select many choices
and preferences" with 3.67 weighted average mean that falls under "Agree description;
"The business establishment help in revenue generation for the LGU through taxes and
permits." got 4.90 weighted average mean under "Strongly Agree" category; "It encourages
fair and competitive market competition." got 3.40 weighted average mean which falls
under "Neutral" category; "The establishment helps in creating jobs and investments." with
3.60 weighted average mean that falls under "Agree" category. In addition, the table obtain
3.8 weighted average mean which falls under "Agree" category. It means that respondents
believe that Goldilocks Bakeshop truly helps in terms of economic dimension in the
locality.

The following are the indicators under the positive and negative impact of
Goldilocks Bakeshop in Bugallon,Pangasinan namely as follows; "Satisfy consumers taste
and preference" with 3.53 weigthed average mean and falls under "Good" description. On
the other hand, the indicators that fall under the category of "okay" are as follows; "Attract
investors and capital income in the locality" got 3.4 weighted average mean; "Helps
government through tax revenues, poverty alleviation and basic services with 3.43
weighted average mean; "Helps increase household's standard of living and employment"
with weighted average mean of 2.97 and "Encourages import and export "got 2.80 of
weighted average mean. In addition, the weighted average mean of table 6 is 3.23 which
falls under the category of "okay". This implies that Goldilocks Bakeshop help the locality
through satisfying consumer taste and preference, attract investors and capital income in
the locality, helps government through tax revenues, poverty alleviation and basic
services, helps increase household's standard of living and employment and encourages
import and export. Generally speaking, Goldilocks Bakeshop have a positive effect in the
locality. Thus, it is obvious that the impact of the business is helpful in the locality.
Summary
Findings

These are the following findings:

 The majority of our respondents are female ages 16 to 25 years old and most are
high school undergraduates.

 We found out that Goldilocks Bakeshop in Bugallon,Pangasinan strongly helps in


revenue generation for the LGU through taxes and permits.

 The said business is very good in terms of it's economic dimension which obtain
3.8 weighted average mean that shows "Agree" description.

 Based on the results from the above tables, it shows that Goldilocks Bakeshop in
Bugallon,Pangasinan performs well in terms of it's social dimension and has postive
impacts in the locality.

Conclusions

These are the following conclusions:

 Our respondents agree that the establishment helps in alleviating poverty problem
and helps in reducing unemployment problem in the locality. While some slightly
say that the business promotes and observes environmental protection,observe
labor-code laws and child-labor protection and the business poses no threat in health
problems in the locality.

 The respondents slightly say that the business helps in promoting tourism in the
locality and encourages fair and competitive market competition. While other
respondents agree to it that the establishment made available customers to select
many choices and preferences and helps in creating jobs and investments. The result
of the study shows that the establishment truly helps in revenue generation for the
LGU through taxes and permits.

 Our study shows that the enterprise is good in satisfying consumers taste and
preference. It also shows that it is okay in attracting investors and capital income in
the locality,helps government through tax revenues, poverty alleviation and basic
services,helps increase household's standard of living and employment and
encourages import and export.
Recommendations

These are the following recommendations:

 The result of our study in terms of social dimension of the said business shows no
negative indicators so we suggest that the business must maintain their good
performance in alleviating poverty problem, in helping reduce unemployment
problem,promoting and observes labor-code laws and child-labor protection and
posing no threat in health problems in the locality.

 In Economic dimension, the business has a very good performance in help of


revenue generation for the LGU through taxes and permits. It is good in made
available customers to select many choices and preferences and in creating jobs and
investments. But not much in promoting tourism in the locality and encouragement
of fair and competitive market competition so we suggest that the business must
improve their performances to the said slightly negative aspects.

 There is no problem in the performance of the enterprise in terms of satisfying


consumer taste and preference,attracting investors and capital income in the
locality,help in government through tax revenues,poverty alleviation and basic
services,help in increase of household's standard of living and employment and the
encouragement of import and export.

 The business performs well in different dimension and it is obvious that it has
positive impacts in the locality. We researchers recommend that maintaining the
positive effects of the business as it is right now will convince more people to buy
products from their shop while improving some negative aspects of their business
as stated on this study.
