Factory Radio Removal


1. Before proceeding, eject disc(s) from factory unit if present.

2. Set parking brake and disconnect negative battery cable to prevent


any electrical short.

3. Move gear shift to lowest position.

4. Pry out receiver/climate control trimpanel to release clips


(Figures 1 & 2). Disconnect power outlet harness and allow panel to
hang.

5. Remove four (4) 7mm screws securing factory radio to dash. Pull out
radio, disconnect and remove (Figure 3).

! SAFETY CHECK
Return gear shift to park position.

• Inspect factory receiver harness connector in vehicle.

Receiver Installation Ensure that the wiring adaptor received from


Crutchfield plugs into the vehicle’s connector. If the
connector is missing or incorrect, please call our
Technical Support Department at 1-800-955-9094.
A standard DIN receiver is shown. A Double DIN receiver can be
installed following these same instructions.

1. Secure receiver to mounting bracket following instructions


supplied with the installation kit.

2. Connect receiver wiring adaptor to receiver following instructions


supplied with adaptor.

3. Hold receiver assembly near dash. Connect receiver wiring adaptor


to factory harness. Plug antenna lead into rear of receiver.

4. Slide assembly into dash and secure with screws previously


removed.

5. Test operation and reassemble dash by reversing removal steps.

6. Standard DIN receivers: Install DIN trim ring supplied with the
installation kit.

1. Pry out bottom front corner of “sail” panel to


release clips. Disconnect harness and FIGURE 2

remove (Figure 1).

2. Pry off screw cover behind door release trim
and remove one (1) exposed Torx T20 screw
(Figure 2).

3. Pry off front portion of door pull handle


(Figure 3). Remove two (2) recessed 1/4”
screws (Figure 3).
“Sail” Panel
4. If equipped with manual windows: Use a
shop rag with a “shoeshine” motion to
release “C” clip on rear of window crank and
remove crank (Figure 4).

5. Remove seven (7) phillips (or Torx T-15) screws around edges of
door panel (Figure 5). Note: There are two (2) additional
screws on 2006- vehicles.

6. Pry out door release trim and disconnect wiring harnesses to


remove. Lift door panel and pull to remove (Figure 6).

7. Remove four (4) 6mm screws securing speaker. Pull out
speaker, disconnect and remove (Figure 7).

8. Connect speaker wiring adaptor of replacement speaker to


vehicle speaker harness. Secure new speaker with screws
previously removed.

9. Test speaker operation and reinstall door panel by reversing


removal steps.

and remove one (1) exposed Torx T20 screw

5. Remove six (6) phillips screws around edges of door panel
(Figure 5).

6. Pry out door release trim and disconnect wiring harnesses to


remove. Lift door panel and pull to remove (Figure 6).

7. Remove four (4) 6mm screws securing speaker. Pull out speaker,
disconnect and remove (Figure 7).

8. Connect speaker wiring adaptor of replacement speaker to vehicle


speaker harness. Secure new speaker with screws previously
removed.

9. Test speaker operation and reinstall door panel by reversing removal


steps.

Rear Side Speakers -- Hatchback


1. Pry out retaining clip in front edge of seat belt
trimpanel (Figure 1). FIGURE 1 FIGURE 2
2. Pry out edges of seat belt trimpanel to release three
(3) metal retaining clips. Pull off trimpanel and set
aside (Figure 2).

3. Fold over seat bottom cushion. Remove one (1)


retaining clip in lower rear corner of rear side panel
(Figure 3).

4. Fold down seat back cushion. Remove one (1)

5. Pry out at front edge of rear side panel to release
three (3) plastic retaining clips.

6. Lift panel to release three (3) plastic retaining clips at


lower window opening. Work panel from behind seat FIGURE 3 FIGURE 4
to remove.

7. Remove four (4) phillips screws securing speaker.


Pull out speaker, disconnect and remove (Figure 4).

8. Connect speaker wiring adaptor of replacement


speaker to vehicle speaker harness. Secure
speaker with screws previously removed.

9. Test speaker operation and reinstall rear side Rear Side Panel

Rear Subwoofer -- Hatchback with adaptor brackets only. Cutting or fabricating (not
shown) will be required for other speaker sizes.

1. Pull cargo area side panel from wall to


remove (Figure 1).

2. Push side light lens through front of panel,
disconnect and allow light assembly to hang

3. Remove four (4) 10mm bolts securing
subwoofer enclosure (Figures 3 & 4).
Remove enclosure.

4. Remove one (1) 8mm bolt from rear of


enclosure (Figure 5).

5. Remove eight (8) 7mm screws from front of subwoofer (Figure 6).

6. Disconnect subwoofer harness at the amplifier and remove speaker


(Figure 7).

7. Cut the wires from the harness close to the factory speaker. Strip the
cut wire ends and connect to the new speaker. Note: The correct
method for connecting wires to the speaker will depend upon the type
of terminals on the speaker.

8. Secure speaker to enclosure with screws previously removed.


Note: Depending upon the speaker being installed, it may be
necessary to drill new mounting holes using a 1/8" bit.

9. Plug speaker wiring harness back into the amplifier.

11. Reinstall speaker/enclosure and reassemble rear side of vehicle by


reversing disassembly steps.

Always be careful when drilling in a vehicle. Be aware of
things such as wiring, windows, fuel lines and safety
devices. Check drilling depth and location to avoid
damage to vehicle appearance.
