CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

This chapter contains the background of industrial training, objectives of

industrial training, limitation of industrial training, and outline of industrial training
report.

1.1 Background of Industrial Training

The industrial sector is growing as the development of the times. Industry

into one that affects the progress of a country as economic activity is also influenced
by the industrial sector. Therefore it is necessary to know the system and the state
of an industry to be aware of the issue and complete the appropriate solution.

Students need to apply the knowledge they have acquired at the College so
that knowledge can be beneficial to himself or others. Students need to be an expert
in the field of their competence in order to resolve the problem as field studies. One
of them is by doing an internship in the field. By looking at the situation and
problems of the industry directly will be open - minded student, to learn more useful
things, more sensitive to the problems that exist, and finding creative solutions
according to their field problems.

One method that can be used by the student to apply their knowledge in the
world of work is the presence of compulsory subjects, namely Imdustrial Training.
The job is one of the compulsory subjects that must be performed by students of
Industrial Engineering, University of Andalas. Field Work carried out aiming to
make students understand more about the process of production, working system
and are able to resolve a problem that occurs in the industry with the application of
the knowledge they have to provide benefits to the company.

Work Practice PT Bandar Abadi Ship Builders and Dry-DocksThis is done

for a month. In the implementation of Job Training, the student has to get
information related to PT Bandar Abadi Ship Builders and Dry-Docks the
company's history, production systems, work systems and other activities. The
information is used as a reference to resolve the problems that exist in a company
so that science gained from the lecture can be applied in the workplace

1.2 Objectives of Industrial Training

The purpose of Industrial Training in PT Bandar Abadi Ship Builders and

Dry-Docks are as follows:

1. Knowing the general picture PT Bandar Abadi-Ship Builders and Dry

Docks, which includes profiles, location, mission, and vision.
2. Able to identify problems that exist in PT Bandar Abadi Ship Builders and
Dry-Docks and able to apply scientific Industrial Engineering in solving
existing problems.
3. Students are able to socialize in a good working environment.
4. Students apply the knowledge they have gained in the course into the
company.

1.3 Limitation of Industrial Training

Job execution limits for students Department of Industrial Engineering,

University of Andalas is as follows:

1. Students have taken and followed the course of the semester 1 through 6.
2. KP should be implemented in companies that meet the following
requirements:
i. Companies must be incorporated.
ii. KP held company where medium and large scale (Act No. 20 of 2008
can be used as a reference to classify the industry).
iii. The duration of the implementation of the KP that is one month,
starting on December 18, 2017 until January 18, 2018.

1.4 Outline of Industrial Training Report

There are three chapters in the report of this practice by writing systematic
Job Training report as follows:

CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION
This chapter contains the preliminary preparation of reports to include the
implementation of practical work background, objectives to be achieved
during the implementation of practical work, limit the implementation of
practical work, and systematic writing of the report.

CHAPTER II OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY

This chapter contains a company overview of historical, profile, location,
mission and vision, commitment and motto on PT Bandar Abadi-Ship
Builders and Dry Docks.

CHAPTER III PROBLEM SOLVING

This chapter contains the issues examined in the report of the Working
Practices and solving problems with the use of science in Industrial
Engineering has been learned. Then at the end of your report are conclusions
and suggestions provided by the author based on the results of the settlement
of a case that has been done.
