    Bolting specification levels-(BSL 1,2,3)

    - Increasing levels of requirements in order to reflect increasing technical, quality and qualification criterion.

    Bolting types-

    1. Machined studs
    2. Machined bolts, screws and nuts
    3. Cold formed bolts, screws and nuts with cut or cold formed threads(BSL-1 only)
    4. Hot formed bolts and screws <1.5 in(38.1 mm) nominal diameter
    5. Hot formed bolts and screws >=1.5 in(38.1 mm) nominal diameter
    6. Roll threaded studs, bolts and screws < 1.5in(38.1mm) nominal diameter
    7. Roll threaded studs, bolts and screws >= 1.5in(38.1mm) nominal diameter
    8. Hot formed nuts < 1.5 in (38.1mm) nominal diameter
    9. Hot formed nuts >= 1.5 in (38.1mm) nominal diameter

    (alternate geometry components made in accordance with this specification may be specified by the purchaser)

    API monogram- if a product is manufactured at a facility licensed by API and is intended to be supplied with API
    monogram.

    Qualification Bolting

    - Each bolting type for particular BSL level shall be qualified


    - Next level BSL conformation, means that lower level BSL is also qualified

    Qualification Testing

    - Tested and evaluated by the bolting manufacturer in order to establish qualification to the bolting types.
