Teaching Practice Task 5: Guided Math

Program link: This task is associated to the guidelines of all the content courses in Year 3 Primary (EPC
3403 - EPR 3203 – EPR 3003). It is also associated to the requirements of the portfolio.

Objective: You will:

1. record the planning for the guided math groups that you taught and the learning outcomes you
covered (including the level of learning outcome: emerging, developing or mastered).
2. Evaluate the learning – all got it, most got it, some got it, I need to reteach this again. How do
you know? What did the students do to show that they understood?
3. Add pictures of the center activity/students’ work to your e-portfolio (include the LO and name
of the center).

Lesson 1: Adding tens and once
[Enter Date] Emerging students was working in adding ten blocks
LO (E/D/M): and once as the number they want.
Developing students had a picture of numbers of
object and they need to take 2 cards and add them
together to find the answer.
Master students had addition equation and they must
solve it, teacher provide number line to help the
students.
Lesson 2: Number from 11-19
[Enter Date] Emerging students had cars and they must put the
LO (E/D/M): car in the correct place.
Developing students had ten frame template and
they must take a card count and then use counters to
display.
Master students take a number and then write it in a
sentence and also display in the ten frames
Lesson 3: Numbers positions
[Enter Date] Emerging students had white board each 2 students
LO (E/D/M): work together they need to take the objects that
teacher provide and place it in the position number
line and then examinee each other.
Developing students must answer the question as
they had a number line with missing element.
Master students must write a sentence using the
number position (teacher provide the number
position names and words at the board)

Lesson 4: Compering numbers

LO (E/D/M): compare it using the signs.
Developing students had pictures they must take any
pictures they want and then compare it using the
signs.
Master students had numbers cards they must take
any card they want and then compare it.
