American Revolution, also called United States War of Independence or American

Revolutionary War

The Revolutionary War (1775-83), also known as the American Revolution, turn up from
growing tensions between residents of Great Britain’s 13 North American colonies and the
colonial government, which represented the British crown.

Skirmishes between British troops and colonial militiamen in Lexington and Concord in
April 1775 kicked off the armed conflict, and by the following summer, the rebels were
waging a full-scale war for their independence

France entered the American Revolution on the side of the colonists in 1778, turning what
had essentially been a civil war into an international conflict

sea power was vital in determining the course of the war, lending to British strategy a flexibility
that helped compensate for the comparatively small numbers of troops sent to America

After French assistance helped the Continental Army force the British surrender at
Yorktown, Virginia, in 1781, the Americans had effectively won their independence, though
fighting would not formally end until 1783.

Minutemen were a small hand-picked elite force which were required to be highly mobile and able to
assemble quickly

Minutemen were selected from militia muster rolls by their commanding officers. Typically 25 years of
age or younger, they were chosen for their enthusiasm, reliability, and physical strength.

The Minutemen were the first armed militia to arrive or await a battle and they would be in the first rows during
the battles.

Not only did they go to fight in a battle, they were also messengers. Paul Revere is a famous minute men that rode his
horse to alert the colonists of the future attacks.

During the American Revolution the Minutemen fought for the American Colonists. They had much more
experience with fighting due to their role in the French and Indian war. The over 100 years of experience was
helpful to the American cause.

the Minutemen were still better organized and battle-tested than any other part-time military. They were a
vital and necessary force, playing a crucial role in not only the Revolutionary War, but in earlier conflicts.
Without these "ready in a minute" men, our history may have been written in a very different way.
