Toolbars
• Title Bar – shows the program name and can also displays the filename of an
open workbook when the workbook is maximized.
• Menu Bar – shows the menu list. Each menu name has its drop down menus.
• Toolbars – allows you to execute a command without opening a menu or dialog
box.
• Name Box – this is where the cell address or cell reference of the active cell can
be seen.
• Formula Bar – this is where you can type, edit cell data or enter a formula.
• Status Bar – this is where you see the processes and other operations and
functions such as auto calculate, num lock and caps lock. These are the keyboard
status.
• Control Buttons – allows you to resize the application windows.
• Workbook – this is your excel worksheet and is composed several parts. The size
of the workbook window depends on the size of the application window.

Entering Data
• You enter the data on the worksheet through the active cell.
- an entire worksheet contains 256 columns and 65,536 rows with approximately
4,000,000 cells.
Types of Data
• Textual – letters of the alphabet
• Numeric – all kinds of numbers
• Floating – numbers with decimal places
• Formula – set of numbers and operators with arguments and references that can
be calculated and yield results
• Objects – imported objects or graphics
