METHODOLOGY

The objective of this chapter is to discuss and explain on the method that is being used
to accomplish this project, on how the idea of sketching was designed, exploring the
advantages of using computer aided manufacturing application in daily life. The discussion
will include the project design and implementation, and the project process procedure.

3.1 Flow Chart

Projet design selection

Drawing of sketches of the final design

Submission of proposal to get approval from Dr Ansari

To have a 3D drawing of the final design using CREO software

To transfer 3D drawing design from CREO to Sprut CAM software

To generate the CNC program code

To run simulation in Sprut CAM software

To get the final coding of the design

Data collection and preparation of report

Submission of final report to Dr Ansari

The actual idea of our project is the card holder with engraved Dr Ansari’s name and
UNITEN’s logo on top of it. The 2D and 3D drawing was done by one of our group member
using CREO software according to our dimension. Below is the drawings of the design of the
card holder before transfer it to Sprut CAM software.

Figure 2 2D Autocad Drawing of Cardholder Design

The idea of our drawing was approved by Dr Ansari. The next step is to transfer the drawing
into Sprut CAM software. After the drawing was transferred, the student need to identiy the
type of process to the machining. The conical mill tool was being used in the Sprut CAM.
Once the simulation was run, we need to make sure there was no error or failure. The next
step is to get the final coding of the process (refer Appendix 1).
