1. Introduction
1.1 Scope and Purpose
The purpose of this statement is to define and detail the process of Fire Hose Cabinet
installation and various related activities as outlined in the drawings, specifications
and other related documents.

M1 – Materials that must be submitted to the Client or its Representative for review and
approval.
M2– Temporary works materials that do not need to be submitted to the Client or its
Representative.
Ensure that related materials received for this activity are inspected and found
acceptable per approved submittals. These materials should be available before
carrying out any works.
Prior to commencement of work, inspect areas and access to confirm that the site
is ready to commence work.
All relevant documentation and drawings shall be checked by Site Engineer prior
to commencement of work to ensure that it’s updated and approved.
Fire Hose Cabinet is an essential part of the building’s fire fighting system. It is
equipped with a high-pressure hose that carries water and other fire retardant
(such as fire extinguisher) material to extinguish fire. It is usually classified
based on their mounting installation which are either surfaced or recessed (see
photos below).
Prior to start of installation it shall be ensured that the wall has been painted &
released to proceed with the installation.
The location of the fire hose cabinet shall be marked as per the approved shop
drawings.
The height of installation of the cabinets shall be in line with the issued IFC or
approved shop drawings.
The Fire hose cabinets shall be installed in place using four 10mm approved
anchors & bolts, ensuring the door will open 180 degree without blocking any
valves.
Prior to start of installation it shall be ensured that the wall around the fire
cabinet has been painted & released to proceed with the installation.
Ensure that the block work opening for the fire hose cabinet is as per the
approved shop drawings prior to start of installation.
The height & location of installation of the cabinets shall be in line with the
issued IFC or approved shop drawings.
The fire cabinet shall be then placed in the opening with the outer flange flush
with the wall and shall be fitted to the block wall using 10mm approved
fasteners (8-10nos as per the size of the cabinet). The door of the cabinet shall
open 180 degrees.
All inspection and testing shall be carried out in accordance with the
Owner’s or General Contractor’s specific instructions and specifications.
For all testing carried out in the works, the QA/QC engineer shall ensure
that a copy of the test result is obtained and filed for record purposes.
