Introduction:
Recruitment and Selection plays an important role to maximize employee strength in order to
meet the employer's strategic goals and objectives. In short, Recruitment and Selection is the
process of sourcing, screening, shortlisting and selecting the right candidates for right positions
within right time. Recruitment is the process of attracting the most suitable candidates for the
position, selection is the process of choosing the best candidate for the position, and induction
is introducing the candidate to the position. This module describes a series of well-tested steps
to help you identify the right person, to ensure he or she will fit well with your farm business,
and to meet the various legal obligations of an employer.
Background:
Today’s world of work is rapidly changing. As part of an organization then, HR Department
must be well equipped and ready to deal with the effects of the change in the corporate world.
The most pressing issues of today to be confronted by HR managers are, understanding the
implications of globalization, technology changes, workforce diversity, changing skill
requirements, continuous improvement initiatives, contingent workforce, decentralized work
sites and employee involvement. Now it is also a huge challenge for the HR Department to
support the organization by providing the best personnel for the suitable positions in shortest
possible time. Starting with recognizing the vacancies and planning for them is a very tedious
and time consuming task. Moreover, selecting, attracting the suitable candidates and choosing
the best from them in stipulated time is also a big challenge because the cost of the recruitment
is very significant and increases rapidly by the hour. This motivated me to study the TA of
Virtusa to know the difference and similarities between conventional TA and what actually
happens in a corporate company. This report gives a comprehensive look into how TA is done
at Virtusa, what tools are used and my recommendations of what can be done to increase the
effectiveness and decrease the cost per hire.
Objectives:
 To Understand and critically analyze the Talent Acquisition procedures at Virtusa.
 To understand the process of recruitment.
 To know the sources of recruitment at various levels and various jobs.
 To critically analyze the functioning of recruitment procedures.
 To identify the probable area of improvement to make recruitment procedure more
effective.
Scope of study:
The benefits of the study is that it helped in gaining knowledge and experience and also
provided the opportunity to study and understand the prevalent recruitment and selection
procedures. The key points of my research study are:
i. To analyses the recruitment policy of the organization.
ii. To Understand and analyze various HR factors including recruitment procedure at
Virtusa.
iii. To suggest any measures/recommendations for the improvement of the TA
procedures
