Blurred Lines:

Project Primer
Personal Statement/Concept Note
Research Questions
While representative of an initial line of enquiry, these are constantly developing:

● How does a certain strata of society (upwardly mobile metropolitans) feel about the normalization
of self-quantification?
● What are the various kinds of personal processes by which virtual grooming is achieved?
● What are the possible futures that can emerge as a result of these new systems?
What I’m trying to do
Create an interactive, playable experience that focuses on telling an engaging story

This is where my interests lie, this is what I’d like to do in the future. More importantly, I’d like to look at
the medium of interactive games as a storytelling platform

Visually, aesthetically/thematically, there are several influences I would like to borrow from - LISA,
Undertale, Hotline Miami, etc.
Setting/Concept Note
Set in the near future, i.e. 2035. The basic premise of the Black Mirror episode “Nosedive” has come to
pass, echoed by China’s social credit system - people’s lives are now directly governed by a rating system.

People who do not conform, but are not institutionalized (in prisons or asylums), are considered to be off
the grid to the extent that they are practically invisible to society at large.

The protagonist of the experience is an employee at an organization that deals in the curation of digital
footprints - an amalgamation of Cambridge Analytica and Google.

The goal is to present the user with choices that are unique to this role and setting, while legitimizing
these decisions with noticeable consequences.
