Mid Project check-up (After Research and planning)
After my research I found that I did have some issues in my research such
as struggling to find certain accounts and statistics of drug use and
distribution finding that some of the best help came from chat sights such
as Reddit due to the anonymity leading people to speak openly about
their experiences with drugs.
I also did have my teachers go over my work and was assured that the
subject matter was respectful towards my audience.
Going into filming I feel prepared and ready with the research that I have
gathered to present my work to the best of my abilities.
However, I am regretful that I did not find and shoot interviews with drug
addicts, male sex workers and abused young men. These would have been
very helpful as first-hand information was a little sparse.
End of project review
After having filmed I did encounter many issues such as not getting the
appropriate permission for my location leading me to use my backups: The
Problem Solving
Leisure Centre gym were slow to email me back and very unhelpful so I
used the Henley College gym. Jude was busy filming in London so I
changed that location to Dylan’s house. Wetherspoon at The Catherine
Wheel had legal issues with me filming there so I used The Bull on Bell Street.
I also had some trouble contacting Townlands Memorial Hospital so I
showed up in person and got permission to film.
Two actors also pulled out: Drugs’s original actor (Brian Jackson) pulled out
due to a personal problem and so I gave the role to Michal Stubbs. Sex’s
Client also pulled out (Jude Coaker) and I had to fill the role myself.
I also had most of my actors on holiday causing me to film late but the
extra time helped and I was able to get all of my footage in time.
It rained on several days but I was able to film indoors during those periods
of time or wait it out inside my home.
