Con una extensión territorial de 130,373
km2, Nicaragua es el país más grande de la
región centroamericana. La espectacular
geografía de Nicaragua incluye cerca de
800 km de costas en el Pacífico y Caribe,
25 formaciones volcánicas, más de
20,000 km de reservas naturales, cerca
de 10,000 km2 de lagos, lagunas y ríos,
y un impresionante 7 por ciento de la
biodiversidad del mundo.
Nicaragua es un país hermoso y seguro y
a la vez goza de un ambiente de negocios
atractivo, gracias al modelo permanente
de diálogo y consenso entre los diversos
sectores del país. Adicionalmente, cuenta
con una alta disponibilidad de mano de

With a total area of 130,373 km2,
Nicaragua is the largest country in
Central America. Nicaragua’s spectacular
geography includes over 800 km of
coastline along the Pacific Ocean and
Caribbean Sea, 25 volcanic formations,
over 20,000 km2 of natural reserves,
around 10,000 km2 of lakes, lagoons and
rivers and an impressive 7 percent of the
world’s biodiversity.
Nicaragua is a safe and beautiful country
that enjoys an attractive business climate
thanks to the dialogue and consensus
model established between the country’s
groups of interest. Additionally, the
country has a vast availability of young
and qualified human talent, as well as
multiple benefits derived from various
trade agreements and fiscal incentives.
The continuous efforts towards improving
the country’s business climate and
infrastructure have positioned Nicaragua
as one of the most attractive export
platforms and fastest growing economies

LA COSTA CARIBE
La Costa Caribe de Nicaragua ocupa el
46 por ciento del territorio nacional y
representa para el país el 35 por ciento
del hato ganadero, 23 por ciento del
total del área agrícola, más del 80 por
ciento del área forestal, 70 por ciento de
la producción pesquera, 60 por ciento de
los recursos mineros, 45,000 Km2 con alto
potencial de explotación de hidrocarburos
y más de 450 Km de costas en una de
las zonas turísticas más reconocidas del
mundo.
La principal actividad empresarial de la
Costa Caribe es el comercio al por mayor
y al detalle, ésta compone el 61 por ciento
en la Región Autónoma de la Costa Caribe
Sur (RACCS) y el 69 por ciento en la Región
Autónoma de la Costa Caribe Norte
(RACCN).
En las Regiones Autónomas de Nicaragua
habita el 15 por ciento de la población
total del país, lo que la convierte en
la segunda región más poblada de
Nicaragua, después del departamento de
Managua. En esta r egión del país reside
la mayor parte de los pueblos indígenas
y afrodescendientes, los que enriquecen
y aportan de manera significativa al
desarrollo con identidad.
Esta combinación de riquezas naturales e
históricas, diversidad cultural y posición
geográfica, permite que la Costa Caribe
nicaragüense aporte sustancialmente
al país en términos sociales, culturales,
políticos y económicos, teniendo aún un
gran potencial por desarrollar.

THE CARIBBEAN COAST
The Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua
occupies 46 percent of the national
territory and represents 35 percent of
the country´s cattle herd, 23 percent of
the total agricultural area, more than 80
percent of forest coverage, 70 percent
of fisheries, 60 percent of mineral
resources, 45,000 Km2 with potential for
hydrocarbon extraction and more than
450 Km of coastline in one of the most
renown tourism areas of the world.
The main economic activities of the
Caribbean Coast is the wholesale and
retail trade, witch compromises 61
percent in the Autonomous Region of the
Southern Caribbean Coast (RACCS, for its
acronym in Spanish) and 69 percent in
the Autonomous Region of the Northern
Caribbean Coast (RACCN, for its acronym
in Spanish)
15 percent of the total population of the
country is established in the Nicaraguan
Autonomous Regions, which makes it
the second most populated region of
Nicaragua, after Managua. Most of the
indigenous and afro descendant peoples
reside in this region of the country, whom
enrich and significantly contribute to
the national identity and development
initiatives.
This combination of natural and human
recourses, history, cultural diversity and
geographic location allows the Caribbean
Coast to make a significant social, political
and economic contributions to the rest of
the country, while having great potential
to continue developing.

En la Costa Caribe de Nicaragua
interactúan cuatro niveles de gobierno,
cada una con funciones políticas y
administrativas:
Gobierno Comunal
La Costa Caribe cuenta con más
de 300 comunidades indígenas y
afrodescendientes. Cada una de éstas
elige a un Gobierno Comunal que gobierna
por un periodo de dos años y emite
avales y resoluciones que contribuyen al
desarrollo económico, social, político y
cultural de su comunidad.
Gobierno Territorial
La Ley 445, Ley del Régimen de Propiedad
Comunal de la Costa Caribe de Nicaragua,
reconoce el derecho de los pueblos
afrodescendientes e indígenas a la
tenencia comunal de la tierra. Desde el
año 2007, el Gobierno de Nicaragua ha
titulado 23 territorios indígenas y afro
descendientes y cada territorio elige a
un Gobierno Territorial que contribuye al
desarrollo integral del territorio soluciona
conflictos entre las comunidades, aprueba
proyectos de inversión e inverativas,
entre otros.
Gobierno Municipal
La Ley de División Política y Administrativa
de Nicaragua divide el territorio de
ambas Regiones Autónomas en veinte
municipios. Los Alcaldes, Alcaldesas y into twenty municipalities. Mayors and
Concejales Municipales son electos cada
cinco años y sus funciones y atribuciones
están establecidas en la Ley 40, Ley de
Municipios de Nicaragua.

GOVERNMENT STRUCTURE OF
THE AUTONOMOUS REGIONS
On the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua four
levels of government coexist and each
one of them has its own political and
administrative functions:
Communal Government
The Caribbean Coast has over 300
indigenous and Afro-descendant
communities, each of which elects a
Communal Government. Most Communal
Governments govern over a 2-year period
and issues guarantees and resolutions
that contribute to the economic, social,
political and cultural development of their
own community.
Territorial Government
Law 445, Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua
Communal Property Regime Law,
recognizes the right of the afro-
descendant and indigenous peoples
to communal land ownership. Since
2007, The Government of Nicaragua has
demarcated and titled 23 indigenous and
afro-descendant territories, each of which
elects a Territorial Government, and
carries out the mandates of contributing
to the development of the territory,
settling conflicts that may arise among
its communities, approves investment
projects and initiatives, among others.
Municipal Government
The Nicaraguan Administrative and
Political Division Law separates the
territory of both Autonomous Regions
municipal councilmen and women are
elected every five years and their functions
and attributions are established in Law
40, Nicaragua`s Municipalities Law.

Los Consejos Regionales Autónomos
La Constitución Política de Nicaragua
y la Ley 28, Estatuto de Autonomía de
Las Regiones Autónomas, reconoce
derechos especiales de auto gobierno
y auto determinación a los pueblos afro
descendientes, indígenas y mestizos
del Caribe. Cada región autónoma es
gobernada por un Consejo Regional
Autónomo, que es una instancia
parlamentaria integrada por 45
Consejales Regionales, electos en 15
circunscripciones étnicas y por un
periodo de cinco años. Cada Consejo
Regional emite resoluciones de carácter
vinculante dentro de la región autónoma
que representa.
Autonomous Regional Councils
The Nicaragua Political Constitution
and Law 28, Autonomy Statute of the
Autonomous Regions, recognize special
rights of self-government and self-
determination to the afro-descendant,
indigenous and mestizo peoples of
the Caribbean of Nicaragua. Each
Autonomous Region is governed by an
Autonomous Regional Council, which is
a parliamentary body composed of 45
Regional Councilmen and women, elected
by 15 ethnic constituencies for a period of
five years. Each Regional Council issues
resolutions of a binding nature within the
autonomous region that it represents.

AGRONEGOCIOS
Históricamente llamada “El Granero
de Centroamérica”, Nicaragua es
reconocida por su clima ideal y suelos
fértiles con óptimas condiciones para la
producción de una amplia variedad de
productos agrícolas y establecimiento
de plantaciones forestales sostenibles,
especialmente en la Costa Caribe. La
agricultura siempre ha sido la costa de
gran importancia socio-económica para la
región, y uno de sus mayores motores de
crecimiento
Producción agroexportable
La combinación de tierras fértiles
disponibles a costos competitivos,
aunado a un clima favorable y
abundantes recursos hídricos, presenta el
escenario óptimo para el establecimiento
de operaciones de producción agrícola
orientadas a la exportación en la Costa
Caribe, la cual representa el 23 porciento
del total de la tierras agrícola del país.
Según el IV Censo Nacional Agropecuario
elaborado por el Instituto Nacional de
Información de Desarrollo (INIDE) y
el Ministerio Agropecuario y Forestal
(MAGFOR), productos con mayor potencial
de producción en la Costa Caribe son:
palma africana, coco, piña, ajonjolí, arroz
de riego, arroz de secano, cultivo de
cebolla, chía, chile picante, frijol rojo de
apante, frijol rojo de primera, frijol negro
de primera, maíz, malanga, quequisque,
yuca o casava, banano de secano, caña de
azúcar, higuerilla, cacao y café robusta.
Ganadería y producción de lácteos y
cárnicos
La Costa Caribe representa para el país
el 35 por ciento del hato ganadero. Con
un crecimiento compuesto anual del 9
por ciento en las exportaciones de carne
AGRIBUSINESS
Historically called “The Breadbasket of
Central America”, Nicaragua is recognized
for its ideal weather and fertile soils with
optimal conditions for the production of a
wide variety of agricultural products and
the establishment of sustainable forest
plantations, especially in the Caribbean
Coast. Agriculture has always been of
great socioeconomic importance for the
region, and one of its greatest growth
engines.
Agro-Exportable production
The combination of fertile land available at
competitive costs, coupled with favorable
weather conditions and abundant water
resources, creates an optimal scenario
for the establishment of export-oriented
agricultural operations on the Caribbean
Coast of Nicaragua, which represent 23
percent of the country’s agricultural.
According to the IV National Agricultural
Census prepared by the National
Development Information Institute
(INIDE) and, the Ministry of Agriculture
and Forestry (MAGFOR), products with
greater production potential in the
Caribbean Coast are: oil palm, coconut,
pineapple, sesame seeds, irrigated rice,
rainfed rice, onion cultivation, chia, chilli
pepper, red bean of apante, premium
red bean, premium black bean, corn,
malanga, quequisque, cassava, dry land
banana, sugar cane, higuerilla, cacao and
robusta coffee.
Livestock, dairy and meat production
The Caribbean Coast represents 35
percent of the Nicaragua cattle industry.
With an annual compound growth rate of
9 percent in meat exports and 11 percent
per year in milk production over the past

continúa siendo el principal productor
de ganado y sus derivados en la región
centroamericana. Adicionalmente,
se cuenta con una extensa población
de ganado de alimentación a base
de pasto, lo cual le otorga costos de
producción sumamente competitivos en
Centroamérica.
Procesamiento de Alimentos
En la Costa Caribe de Nicaragua se
produce una gran variedad de materia
prima que podría ser procesada
localmente. Entre los productos con
mayor potencial se encuentran: carne,
cacao, café, azúcar, maíz, mariscos,
frijoles, plátanos, coco, entre otros. Otras
oportunidades con gran potencial de
desarrollo son el maní, la yuca, cereales,
productos horneados, frituras, hortalizas,
dulces, jaleas y mermeladas, conservas,
frutas deshidratadas, salsas, encurtidos y
condimentos.
Plantaciones forestales
El potencial de la Costa Caribe
es eminentemente forestal con
actividades agropecuarias bajo sistemas
agroforestales y silvopastoriles. La
naturaleza propia de los suelos del
Caribe permite de: Bambú, Caoba
del Atlántico, Eucalipto, Genízaro,
Granadillo, Guanacaste, Helequeme,
Hule, Inga, Laurel, Leucaena, Madero
Negro, Marango, Neem, Pochote, Roble
Sabanero, Teca, entre otros.

Conservación, Fomento, y Desarrollo
Sostenible del Sector Forestal (Ley 462)

8 years, Nicaragua maintains its position
as the main livestock, dairy products and
meat producer of the Central American
region. Furthermore, with an extensive
popslatron of pasture-fed livestock
cattle herd, costs are among the most
competitive of Central America.
Food Processing
On the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua, a
great variety of raw material is produced
that could be processed locally. Among
the products with the greatest potential
in the region, are meat, cocoa, coffee,
sugar, corn, seafood, beans, coconut,
pineapple and banana, among others.
Other opportunities with great potential
for development are peanuts, cassava,
cereals, baked goods, fried foods,
vegetables, sweets, jellies and jams,
preserves, dehydrated fruits, sauces,
pickles, and condiments.
Forestry plantations
The potential of the Caribbean Coast
is eminently within the forestry sector,
with most agricultural activities occurring
under agroforestry and silvo-pastoral
systems. The nature of the Caribbean
soils allows for the cultivation of Bamboo,
Atlantic Mahogany, Eucalyptus, Genizaro,
Granadillo, Guanacaste, Helequeme,
Hule, Inga, Laurel, Leucaena, Madero
Negro, Marango, Neem, Pochote, Roble
Sabanero, Teak, among others.

Caribe. El plan del sector privado es llegar
a una masa crítica de 120,000 hectáreas en
todo el país, por lo que las oportunidades
de inversión en el sector son amplias y el
respaldo del gobierno para este tipo de
iniciativas es evidente.
Las inversiones en el sector suman más
de US$100 millones en los últimos seis
años y las empresas ya establecidas
están interesadas en seguir invirtiendo
en el sector considerando las reformas
realizadas a la Ley 462 a partir de las
negociaciones entre el Gobierno de
Nicaragua y la Asociación Nicaragüense
de Reforestadores (CONFOR).
EXTERNALIZACIÓN DE SERVICIOS
Nicaragua representa una gran
oportunidad como un destino para
operaciones de externalización de
servicios por su alto número de población
bilingüe con acento neutro. La industria
del BPO es la rama de la industria de
servicios tercerizados que ha puesto
a Nicaragua en el mapa como una de
las plataformas más atractivas para el
nearshoring, siendo hasta la fecha una
importante fuente de empleo formal para
el talento bilingüe del país.
Con la entrada en operaciones del
primer call center situado en la ciudad
de Bluefields, la Costa Caribe comienza a
posicionarse como un punto de referencia
para la industria de externalización de
servicios o comúnmente conocido como
Outsourcing, puesto que esta región
cuenta con recursos humanos bilingües,
jóvenes y calificados para brindar servicio
de calidad ya sea en el sector de BPO, ITO
o KPO.

industry is the branch of the outsourcing
services industry that has placed
Nicaragua on the map as one of the most
attractive platforms for nearshoring,
being to date an important source of
formal employment for the country’s
growing bilingual talent.
With the first call center already in
operation in the city of Bluefields, the
Caribbean Coast seeks to position itself
as a referral site for the outsourcing
industry, reaffirming the potential of its
young, bilingual, and qualified human
resources, whom are ready to deliver
quality services in any of the outsourcing
subsectors (BPO, ITO or KPO).

El sector turismo se considera como el
de mayor potencial para la Costa Caribe
nicaragüense, tomando en cuenta las
características de la zona, orientadas al
turismo de sol y playa, cultura y aventura,
la diversidad de destinos y amplias
opciones naturales por descubrir. Existe
una gran demanda por destinos en la
Costa Caribe de parte de los mercados
americanos y europeos y se considera
que los mercados asiáticos también
pueden ser desarrollados producto
del fortalecimiento de las relaciones
económicas, y comerrciales con estos
países.
La saturación de los destinos turísticos
tradicionales en el Caribe (República
Dominicana, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica,
Roatán, etc.), así como el incremento
en los precios de estos destinos, abre la
puerta para que el Caribe nicaragüense
presente nuevas ofertas a precios
atractivos, tanto para incrementar el
número de turistas, como para atraer a
inversionistas hoteleros y de la industria
turística en general.
PESCA
Nicaragua tiene un enorme potencial de
aprovechamiento de recursos acuáticos.
El sector pesquero representa el tercer
rubro de importancia en la generación
de divisas del país y su potencial es
de alrededor de 305 especies; aunque
históricamente la tradición pesquera se
ha concentrado en la pesca del camarón,
langosta y pescados.

un incremento de los proyectos de
exploración y explotación minera, siendo
el año 2016 uno de los años de mejor
desempeño, logrando el sector exportar
357 millones de dólares.

número de lotes mineros, se concentran
actualmente alrededor de 380 hectáreas
bajo concesiones mineras metálicas y no
metálicas, sobre todo en los municipios
de Rosita, Bonanza y Siuna de las cuales
más de 220 hectáreas están siendo
explotadas.

Puertos y aeropuertos
Para actividades comerciales, la Costa
Caribe cuenta con tres puertos acuáticos:
El Bluff, Bilwi y Puerto Arlen Siu. El Bluff
está localizado en la Región Autónoma
de la Costa Caribe Sur, en la Bahía de
Bluefields, a 6 millas náuticas de la
costa y cerca de 98 kilómetros al norte
de Costa Rica. Este puerto cuenta sólo
con una comunicación acuática. La ruta
de navegación que conecta El Bluff con
El Rama es de aproximadamente 100
kilómetros sobre el río Escondido y está
señalizado por boyas para una navegación
segura. El puerto ofrece servicios para
guiar barcos a lo largo del río Escondido
hacia el puerto de El Rama.
Situado en la Región Autónoma de la
Costa Caribe Norte, Bilwi se conecta con
el Pacífico por una carretera de todo
tiempo y por una línea área a través
de un aeropuerto internacional. Para
atracar en el puerto, los barcos que
entran deben esperar hasta que las
autoridades les permitan acceso al canal
que conduce al área del muelle. Las
instalaciones portuarias están frente al
mar abierto, sin separadores, razón por
la cual las embarcaciones de remolque
son necesarias durante ciertos períodos.
El muelle cuenta con dos secciones: una
para barcos internacionales con una
longitud máxima de 100 metros y otro
muelle para embarcaciones nacionales
con una capacidad máxima para barcos
de 80 m de longitud.

Ports and airports
The Caribbean Coast has three ports
for commercial use: El Bluff, Bilwi and
Puerto Arlen Siu. The Bluff is located in
the Autonomous Region of the Southern
Caribbean Coast, on the Bluefields Bay,
6 nautical miles offshore and about 98
miles north of Costa Rica. This port is
only accessible by water. The navigation
route that connects El Bluff with El Rama
is approximately 100 kilometers along
Escondido River, which has been marked
with navigation buoys. The port offers
services to guide ships through the
Escondido River and all the way to the El
Rama port.
Located in the Autonomous Region of
the Northern Caribbean Coast, Bilwi
is connected to the Pacific Coast of
Nicaragua by a partially paved road and
by an airline that offers daily flights from
Managua and Bluefields. In order to
dock with the port, incoming ships must
wait until the authorities allow them to
access the docking channel. The port
facilities are facing the open sea, with
no separators, which is why towboats
are necessary during certain periods of
the year. The dock has two sections: one
for international boats with a maximum
length of 100 meters and another pier for
national boats with a maximum capacity
of 80 meters.

Puerto Arlen Siu se encuentra localizado
en la Región Autónoma de la Costa Caribe
Sur (RACCS), a 292 km de Managua y a
un kilómetro de la ciudad El Rama. Es la
principal ruta de acceso de Nicaragua
hacia mercados internacionales en la
Costa Caribe y la costa Este de los Estados
Unidos. Cuenta con una excelente
carretera donde la carga se transporta
con seguridad. Dispone de señalización
sobre el río Escondido que permite
la navegación nocturna y cuenta con
equipos e infraestructura portuaria para
el manejo de la carga con eficiencia y
eficacia.
La aerolínea La Costeña, una subsidiaria
de Avianca, actualmente provee servicios
de transporte aéreo entre Managua y la
Costa Caribe, realizando vuelos diarios
hacia Bluefields, Corn Island, Siuna,
Bonanza, Bilwi y Waspam. Asimismo,
en el Caribe nicaragüense, se cuenta
con tres terminales de carga aéreas:

The Arlen Siu Port is located in the
Autonomous Region of the Southern
Caribbean Coast (RACCS), 292 km from
Managua and one kilometer from the city
of El Rama. The port is Nicaragua’s main
access to international markets in the
Caribbean Coast, as well as the East Coast
of the United States. It has an excellent
road through which cargo is transported
safely. The port is adequately signaled
along the Escondido River which allows
for night navigation and has equipment
and port infrastructure for the handling
of cargo efficiently and effectively.
La Costeña, a subsidiary of Avianca,
currently provides air transportation
services bringing Managua closer to
the Caribbean, making daily flights to
Bluefields, Corn Island, Siuna, Bonanza,
Bilwi and Waspam. Also in the Nicaraguan
Caribbean, there are three air cargo
terminals: Puerto Cabezas, Bluefields and
Corn Island, which have modern facilities
and high technology equipment.

En las Regiones Autónomas se distinguen
tres tipos de tenencia de la propiedad,
siendo estas: privada, pública y comunal.
La propiedad privada es transferible
a través de recursos de compraventa,
cesión de derechos, arrendamiento,
donación, declaratoria de herederos y
título supletorio.
La propiedad pública se sub divide

La propiedad pública nacional (fuera
de áreas protegidas) puede transferirse
con la debida aprobación del estado
a través de una certificación registral
emitida por la Procuraduría General de
la República que abre paso a un recurso
de compraventa, cesión de derechos,
arrendamiento o donación entre el
Estado y el inversionista. En el caso de
la propiedad pública nacional en áreas
protegidas, se debe seguir el mismo
proceso, sin embargo, es preciso atenerse
a lo establecido en las leyes que regulan la
materia. En la Costa Caribe de Nicaragua
existen 21 áreas protegidas: 17 reservas
Naturales, 2 reservas biológicas, 1 reserva
de biósfera y 1 parque nacional.
La propiedad pública ejidal por su parte
requiere de la aprobación de la Alcaldía
a través de una resolución del Concejo
Municipal correspondiente, que al igual
que en el caso de la propiedad pública
nacional (fuera de las áreas protegidas),

IN THE AUTONOMOUS REGIONS
In the Autonomous Regions, there are
three types of property ownership, these
being: private, public and communal.
Private property is transferable through
legal resources such as: private purchase,
transfer of ownership rights, lease,
donation, inheritance, and supplementary
titles.
Public ownership is subdivided
into protected areas, unoccupied or
precarious national lands and ejido lands
that are under the administration of the
Municipalities.
National public property (outside of
protected areas) can be transferred with
the proper approval of the state through
a registry certification issued by the
Attorney General´s Office, which allows
to purchase, sale, or donate properties
between the State and the investor. In
the case of national public property in
protected areas, the same process must
be followed, however, it is necessary
to get stick to what is established in the
laws that regulate this process. On the
Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua, there are
21 protected areas: 17 natural reserves,
2 biological Reserves, 1 viosphere reserve
and 1 national park.
The ejido public property requires the
approval of the municipality through a
resolution of the corresponding Municipal
Council, which, as in the case of national
public property (outside protected areas),
allows for the transfer of the property

La propiedad comunal no puede ser
comprada, vendida o transferida; sin
embargo, los Gobiernos Comunales
y Territoriales pueden establecer
contratos de arrendamiento u acuerdos
de asociación con inversionistas para la
implementación de proyectos deinversión
Dichos contratos deben ser aprobados
por los Consejos Regionales Autónomos
correspondientes y las instituciones del
Gobierno Central que rigen la materia. A
la fecha se han demarcado y titulado 23
territorios indígenas y afrodescendientes
que abarcan más del 50 por ciento del
territorio de las regiones autónomas.

LA COSTA CARIBE NORTE
MLR Forestal tiene como principal
rubro las plantaciones forestales de
teca (tectona grandis) y actualmente
se encuentra incursionando en una
potencial inversión en plantaciones de
cacao. La empresa inició operaciones de
manera oficial en 2013 y espera que para
2020 sus plantaciones estén listas para la
comercialización local o exportación.
Carlos Domke, Gerente General de la MLR
Forestal, expresó que “la Costa Caribe
de Nicaragua tiene un enorme potencial
para plantaciones forestales debido a la
calidad de los suelos, la disponibilidad de
la mano de obra calificada y los valores
competitivos de las tierras.” Esto hace
a Nicaragua sumamente conveniente
para desarrollar actividades forestales
de gran envergadura. Asimismo, el señor
Domke resaltó la voluntad política para
el desarrollo de nuevas inversiones y la
seguridad a nivel nacional como ventajas
importantes que les ofrece el país para el
desarrollo de sus actividades.
“En el corto plazo, MLR Forestal espera
desarrollar un ambicioso plan de
expansión de nuestro cultivo de cacao,
donde esperamos establecer unas 2,700
hectáreas de cacao adicionales y alcanzar
las 4,000 hectáreas de teca sembradas en
la zona norte de la Costa Caribe. “
El Gerente General de MLR Forestal
concluyó diciendo que “Nicaragua es
un país lleno de oportunidades para
las compañías que vengan con un
proyecto serio y con ganas de producir.
El país cuenta con todas las condiciones
necesarias para ser uno de los motores
de la economía centroamericana en las
siguientes décadas”..
AUTONOMOUS REGION OF THE
NORTHERN CARIBBEAN COAST
MLR Forestal’s main investment is in a
teak plantation (tectona grandis), and is
currently entering into a cocoa plantation.
The company officially started operations
in 2013 and expects its plantations to be
ready for local consumption or export by
2020.
Carlos Domke, General Manager of
MLR Forestal, stated that “Nicaragua’s
Caribbean coast has a great potential for
forestry plantations due to the quality
of its soils, the availability of skilled
labor and competitive land values.” This
makes Nicaragua highly desirable for
the development of large-scale forestry
activities. Mr. Domke also highlighted the
political will for the development of new
investment projects, as well as the high
levels of national security as important
advantages that the country offers for the
development of its activities.
“In the short term, MLR Forestal expects
to develop an ambitious expansion
plan to add 2,700 hectares to our cocoa
plantation, and reach 4,000 hectares of
teak in the northern part of the Caribbean
Coast.”
The General Manager of MLR Forestal
concluded by saying that “Nicaragua is
full of opportunities for companies that
come with a serious project and the will
to invest and produce. The country has all
the necessary conditions to be one of the
engines of economic growth for Central
America in the following decades.”

Quality Contact Centers (QC2), es
una empresa innovadora que inicio
operaciones en Nicaragua en febrero del
2014, convirtiéndose así en la primera
empresa del sector de externalización de
servicios en abrir operaciones en el carie
de Nicaragua. Su principal actividad está
relacionada a la exportación de servicios
(BPO y KPO) en español e inglés hacia
los estados Unidos. La empresa cuenta
actualmente con 30 puestos de trabajo
De acuerdo con Yasser Portocarrero,
Gerente de Recursos Humanos de QC2, “el
factor de libro comercial y la estimulación
del Gobierno de Nicaragua a través de las
leyes de incentivos fiscales y el apoyo del
Gobierno de Nicaragua a través de la leyes
de incentivos fiscales, fueron algunos
de los factores más determinantes al
momento de decidir invertir en el país.
Portocarrero afirma que la experiencia
de trabajar con manos de obra local ha
sido de las más positivas debido a su
alta disposición de trabajar, su nivel de
cualificación y por los costos competitivos
de la misma. Por otro lado, QC2 considera
que la seguridad ciudadana y el desarrollo
socio-económico son ventajas que les
motiva a considerar su expansión en el
territorio nacional.

Quality Contact Centers (QC2), is
an innovative company that started
operations in Nicaragua in February 2014,
thus becoming the first company in the
outsourcing services sector to launch
operations in the Caribbean region of
the country. QC2’s main activity consist
in exporting outsourcing services (BPO
and KPO) both in Spanish and English to
United States. The company currently
employs 30 full-time agents.
According to Yasser Portocarrero, Human
