OVERVIEW

Simbahan Kong Mahal (SMK) is a series of short documentaries about the various Catholic Churches in
the Philippines—their magnificent structures/architectures, inspiring histories and beneficial impact to
their present communities.

SMK showcases the beauty of each parish church—physically and spiritually—through the stories of the
assigned priests, leaders of parish organizations and church-goers who have incredible faith experiences
going to the church or actively participating in parochial activities.

OBJECTIVES

1. To share the rich history of each church through its glorious architecture.
2. To show that the church is not only a structure—a venue where people can pray and worship—
but it is alive and active, making impact to the people of the community.
3. To highlight lay people who are actively doing the ministry they are called to do.
4. To hear out the life-changing faith experiences of some of the parishioners.

First Part – Structure (Outside Beauty)

Second Part – Spirit (Inside Beauty)


1. The activities of parish organizations (selected) that make impact to the community (most
notable)
2. Inspiring stories of active lay people (selected)
3. Faith experiences of some parishioners (selected)

BACKGROUND OF THE SHOWRUNNERS (LUNA FILMS)


LUNA FILMS is a video production company that focuses on making films in different platforms such as
corporate, online, event and cinema.
The company was started by a couple whose passion is in filming—Raymond and Hazel Luna. Their
interest in making documentaries about the Catholic Churches in the Philippines came from their deep-
rooted Catholic backgrounds. Raymond spent 10 years in Diocesan seminaries—from high school to
Theology—while Hazel came from a family who are very enriched in religious traditions and practices.
WHO ARE THE PEOPLE INVOLVE IN THE PARISH
(These people will be interviewed on camera)
-The Parish Priest or the Assistant Parish Priest
-Selected leaders of organizations (Youth, Catechists, Lay Missionaries, Prayer Groups, Sacristan, etc.)
-Chosen Parishioner/s with film-worthy faith experience as he/she goes to Church or actively joins parish
activities

Parish Choir (They will render one religious song that will be video and audio recorded)

WHAT THE SHOW CAN BRING


-Social awareness that Catholic Churches are not only structures but active formators of the
community.
-Exposure of glorious church architectures in the Philippines (Tourism-wise).
-Good media for Catholic communities who are now being bombarded by bad publicity because of their
active criticism to the Government’s wrongdoings.
-Attract viewership to TV Maria as the show goes from one town to another, all over the Philippines.
