CLOSURE (Wrap up and brief summary): How will you plan to restate the lesson objective?
The teacher will restate the lesson objectives by saying that everyone has introduced themselves to Mr. Zelenky,
told him one of their life goals, and sent an email to the requested email address.
The teacher will finish the lesson by saying that we are going to look at each one of our strength’s and goals in
life and try to focus on how we can improve ourselves and how we can help other people in the classroom
improve their lives as well.
ACCOMMODATIONS/MODIFICATIONS:
If a student is an English Language Learner, they may write their name and desires after high school in their
native language
If student did not know what they wanted to do when they grew up, I also accepted an interest that they have
(sport, music, etc).
ASSESSMENT: (How you will determine that student has mastered objectives?): Consider formative and summative
assessment measures for all levels of differentiation.
The student will master the objective of introducing themselves to Mr. Zelenky when they say/write their first
name and last name to Mr. Zelenky as found on the Classroom Seating chart
The student will master the objective of sending an email to Mr. Zelenky when they submit an email containing
their name.
SELF-ASSESSMENT/REFLECTION: (Complete this section if you have taught this lesson to peers or in clinical
placement):
After teaching this lesson to all of Mr. Johnson’s classes on Wednesday 1/16/19, I felt that I definitely found my place in
the classroom by the end of the school day. I have always been a sequential planner and I often like to stick to a routine. I
learned that I had to be flexible after teaching this lesson to the first period class.
By the end of the day, I was not following my lesson plan as closely and I actually added another activity in the lesson
plan in order to get students to understand my philosophy on accountability and responsibility. I found that this change
allowed students to talk with other students about what it means to be responsible and how I will be enforcing
responsibility in the classroom and how that will translate once I take over the class.
In addition, I also added something into my closure as well as the day went on. I want each student to develop their own
sense of uniqueness as I work with them throughout the course. No two students (or people) are identical and we all need
to understand that in order to make this class meaningful to each student. I also want students to understand that while
there are many things in mathematics that are convergent in nature (have one answer), there are also many other things
that are divergent in nature. I want students to understand that it is okay to have different answers from their classmates
and that they should question why their answers are unique.
I feel confident that I will be able to promote individuality in my lessons through creating a positive classroom
environment for all students. I also feel confident that I will be able to contact all students as needed in order to discuss
missing work/ progress in the course. I feel that I could have done better at implementing my accommodations and
modifications for this lessons and I look forward to improving on this idea.
