A Writing Journey

This year was my first year taking a college English Class. I came into this class of writing,

reading, and critical thinking, thinking it would be easy but there were challenges. I learned a lot

about myself as a writer and what works for me. This class taught me new things and new

discoveries. At the beginning of the semester I was no where near a good writer and as of today

I’m not the best but I’ve improved from previous english and writing classes. Taking this class

showed me steps I didn’t know about which made the process of writing an essay easier than it

looks. The assignments we were assigned also helped my learning, reading, and writing skills

as well.

The assignment we were assigned for this class is what made things easier and taught us how

to become a better writer. At the beginning of the semester we took it step by step on how to

write an essay as our homework and it really helped me. I liked how we didn’t rush into our first

essay with no preparation. One of my favorite assignments was reading Still Water Saints.

Reading this book helped and made our second essay we had to do way much easier. This

book had a lot of good topics that’s going on in our world right now which made me write easier

and put all my thoughts down more quickly than any other essay would. I was very happy on the

choice of the book and because I was interested made writing the essay more fun rather than

reading a book I had no interest in and writing an essay on it.

I learned a lot this semester in my English class. I walked into this class thinking I knew a good

amount of writing and reading but I learned a lot more than what I thought I knew. I improved a

lot on my writing. I never knew how much and what needs to be correctly put in an essay before

taking this class. I learned to take your time on writing an essay. Before taking this class I use to

write all my thoughts down on a paper written as an essay and hope everything was where it

was suppose to be and in the correct body paragraphs. I now know how to properly write an

essay. Taking it step by step what’s suppose to be in an essay and the correct order helped me

so much and made things easier on writing an essay.

Therefore I enjoyed taking this writing, reading, and critical thinking class. I learned a lot I didn’t

know before taking this. I didn’t take this class just to strive for a good grade and pass but I took

it to help me in the future career wise. Career wise this can help my writing and thinking more

better and professional. I learned many things I never knew in an easy way. I’m glad I took the

opportunity to take this class and improve on my writing skills.
