PRESENT:
Jerelyn L. Magbanua
Grade 11 Coordinator
WHEREAS, many students have experience a lot of difficulties in their studies one of
these is about wearing the proper school uniform. Some students hate their school
uniforms because this not belongs to their fashions, especially for the modern things
nowadays. School Uniforms are used all across the country, particularly in parochial and
urban school settings. In 1996, approximately three percent of all schools in the United
States had a school uniform policy (Gentile & Imberman, 2009, as cited in the term paper
of Gwynneth Kane Mamac, Mariel Guarin, Edgie Mae Binoya, Gretchin Ceasar, Rosabel
Dabuan, Rosabel Mangabo and Renante Hemilo entitled “THE ESSENTIALS OF
WEARING PROPER SCHOOL UNIFORM”);
WHEREAS, uniform policies face approval and disdain in many school districts. The
emergence of uniform policies has led to discussions over their effectiveness.
Administrators often believe uniforms create a safer learning environment while students
have said they notice little difference in the school. Some school administrators believe
that uniforms can improve discipline and raise academic achievement (Stanley, 1996, as
cited in the term paper of Gwynneth Kane Mamac, Mariel Guarin, Edgie Mae Binoya,
Gretchin Ceasar, Rosabel Dabuan, Rosabel Mangabo and Renante Hemilo entitled “THE
ESSENTIALS OF WEARING PROPER SCHOOL UNIFORM”);

school policy observe the wearing of school uniform for proper identification and

performance in school, the Supreme Student Government (SSG), hereby propose for the
observance of a “One-day Wash Day” for the students, to give them adequate
opportunity to wash and dry their uniforms, and the appropriate time to do that would
be every Wednesday of the week;

1. A student’s basic right to go to school, study and learn is of paramount importance and
should be respected and promoted at all times.

3. A student’s attire should not become a cause for discrimination particularly for students
belonging to a lower socio-economic status.

process in schools, thus a student’s attire and physical appearance should manifest
learnings from this process.
