Historia
Más de cien años de historia.
Guitarras Hermanos Sanchis López es ya la cuarta generación de guitarreros que
siguen hoy en día trabajando de una forma artesanal y tradicional tal y como ya
empezó a hacerlo hace más de cien años, en 1915, D. Ricardo Sanchis Nacher.
David y Germán, cuentan ya con una larga experiencia de más de 16 años cons-
truyendo guitarras. Siendo pequeños, ya ayudaban a su padre, D. Ricardo Sanchis
Carpio, en muchas de las faenas del taller, aprovechando sus vacaciones de verano
o navidad y sus tardes libres, para ir haciendo lo que ya desde entonces les gustaba
tanto.
Al estar siempre en continuo contacto con el taller, poco a poco fueron aprendiendo
todas las faenas, y sin darse cuenta, eran capaces ellos mismos de elaborar todo el
proceso.
Ya en el año 2005 cambió el nombre de la empresa al actual y los hermanos Sanchis
López, comenzaron a llevar las riendas del taller.
Poco a poco, los trabajadores que habían estado toda la vida con Ricardo, se fueron
jubilando. Actualmente, siguen codo con codo junto con su padre y son los únicos
luthiers de todas las guitarras.
Como siempre ha sido una empresa familiar, su madre, Dña. Araceli López Jar-
que, también tiene una función muy importante, ya que es la encargada de ventas,
atención al cliente y contabilidad desde hace más de 40 años, aunque ella, también
empezó realizando trabajos en las guitarras.
More than 100 years of history
Guitarras hermanos Sanchis López es the fourth generation of guitarmakers that
works today artisian and tradional way like he did more than 100 years ago, in
1915, Mr. Ricardo Sanchis Nacher.
David and Germán are working more than 16 years making guitars. Since they
were child, they helped their father, Mr. Ricardo Sanchis Carpio, in many works in
the workshop, in summer and Christmas holidays and some free afternoons. They
enjoyed a lot.
Long time in the workshop, and they were leaning little by little all the different
works to make this instrument. When they realized they were making guitars.
In 2005 the name of the business changed into the current name and the Sanchis
López brothers took the control of the workshop.
Little by little, many the workers of Ricardo Sanchis they left in retirement. Ac-
tually they are working with their father and they are the only luthiers of all the
guitars.
As a family business, Mrs. Araceli López Jarque, she has a very important role, be-
cause she is the sales manager, customer support and accounting since more than
35 years. In her beginning, she was working helping to make guitars.
Tercera generación: El maestro.
Historia
D. Ricardo Sanchis Carpio comenzó desde muy pequeño a trabajar junto con su
abuelo, D. Ricardo Sanchis Nacher. Tras casi 70 años construyendo guitarras, sigue
con las mismas ganas de siempre, de seguir evolucionando la guitarra.
Tras la jubilación de su abuelo en 1955, creó junto con su tío, D. Vicente Sanchis
Badía y unos cuantos socios, una sociedad. Tras unos años, al no sentirse realizado
en una fábrica grande, decidió establecer un pequeño taller, donde lo importante
fuera la calidad y no la cantidad.
Ricardo, es un luchador y trabajador incansable que evolucionó el taller y las guita-
rras, para conseguir un instrumento de mejor calidad. Para ello, se posicionó muy
cerca de los guitarristas, para entender que necesitaban de la guitarra y así poder
adaptar la comodidad, el timbre y la potencia al gusto de los mejores guitarristas de
la época. A día de hoy, esta sigue siendo la filosofía de trabajo en el taller.
Con 80 años, sigue montando, terminando y ajustando guitarras, ya que esta, ha
sido su vida. No hay día que pase, en el que no tenga alguna idea nueva para seguir
mejorando la calidad de las guitarras.
Third generation: The Master
Mr. Ricardo Sanchis Carpio began very young to work with his grandfather, Mr.
Ricardo Sanchis Nácher. 70 years before, he continue making guitars with the same
motivation as always to evolve the guitar.
After his grandfather retired in 1955, he created together with his uncle, Mr. Vi-
cente Sanchis Badía and some partners, a society. After some years, he didn’t feel
fulfilled in a big factory, so he decided to create his own small workshop, where the
important was the quality and not the quantity.
Ricardo is a fighter and hard-working that evolved the workshop and the guitars
to get an instrument of a better quality. So he positioned very near of guitarists to
know and understand what they need of the guitar and so to adapt the comfort,
power and sound for the best guitarists of those times. Today, this is the philoso-
phy of work in the workshop.
He´s actually 80 years old, he continues working, finishing and adjusting guitars,
like all his life. Day by day he continues contributing with new ideas to improve
the guitars.
Historia
Segunda generación: El abuelo.
D. Ricardo Sanchis Badia por desgracia murió con tan solo 27 años y aunque no llegó
a tener un taller propio, fue una pieza clave en la historia de la empresa, ya que él, fue
quien hizo la función de comercial, dando a conocer por todo el mundo las guitarras
que se hacían.
Consiguió ganar cada vez mas clientes y recogía de primera mano los feedbacks de las
tiendas, para mejorar los instrumentos.
Gracias a su trabajo, se evolucionó mucho en la construcción y acabado de las gui-
tarras de aquella época y consiguió hacer crecer el taller y el nombre de la marca en
muy poco tiempo.
Second generation: The grandfather.
Mr. Ricardo Sanchis Badía died unfortunately when he was only 27 years old, and
he was a key piece in the history of the business, as he was who introduced the
guitars for all over the world.
He got more clients and he was who received the opinion from the shops to impro-
ve the instruments.
Thanks to his work, it allowed evolve a lot in the way to make and finish the guitars
and he made grow the workshop and the brand in a few time.
Primera generación: El fundador.
D. Ricardo Sanchis Nacher se interesó desde muy joven por las guitarras. Y con muy
poca edad, ya estaba construyendo guitarras en fábricas como Telesforo Julve.
En su servicio militar, en el que fue destinado a Madrid, aprovechó su estancia para
seguir adquiriendo mas conocimientos en el taller de D. Manuel Ramirez y otros, de
donde salió con una muy buena amistad con D. Domingo Esteso, que con los años, se
convirtió también en relación comercial.
Al tiempo, en 1915, decidió montar un taller por su cuenta, donde empezó a construir
guitarras para muchas fabricas y talleres como Telesforo Julve, Roca, Domingo Esteso,
Casa Ramirez y otros grandes constructores de la época, a la vez que hacía sus propios
modelos.
First generation: The founder.
Mr. Ricardo Sanchis Nacher was interested since he was very young about the gui-
tars. Early he was making guitars in factories like in Telesforo Julve.
He was destined to Madrid to make his military service and he took advantage to
continue acquiring more knowledge in the workshop of Mr. Manuel Ramirez and
others, where he made very good friendship with Mr. Domingo Esteso. With years
they continued also with a commercial relationship.
With the years, in 1915, he decides to set up his own workshop, where he made
many guitars to different factories and workshops like Telesforo Julve, Roca, Do-
mingo Esteso, Casa Ramirez and other great guitarmakers in that period, at the
time he was making his own models.
Taller
Taller
Guitarras hermanos Sanchis López, es un taller familiar situado en
Valencia (España), donde trabaja la familia Sanchis al completo. D.
Ricardo Sanchis Carpio, su mujer Dña. Araceli López Jarque y sus hijos Da-
vid y Germán Sanchis López, además de tres empleados más que trabajan
como ayudantes.
Ricardo, David y Germán son los constructores de todas y cada una de las
guitarras que se construyen. Además, las guitarras de Hermanos Sanchis
López, no tienen ninguna pieza, ni parte del instrumento o faena que se ha-
gan fuera del taller, por lo tanto, también son los encargados de elegir y pre-
parar el material, realizar el barnizado, acabado y puesta a punto de todas
las guitarras, además de otras tareas como ofimática y relaciones públicas en
eventos y ferias. Araceli, por su parte, es la encargada de ventas, atención al
cliente y contabilidad.
En la actualidad, la producción anual es de ochenta a cien guitarras depen-
diendo de la calidad de las mismas, que se van construyendo en partidas de
diez guitarras.
Su máxima sigue siendo la misma que se impuso D. Ricardo Sanchis Carpio:
Intentar mejorar día a día cada uno de los detalles del instrumento, adaptán-
dolos y evolucionándolos a las necesidades del guitarrista.
Hermanos Sanchis López guitars, it is a familiar workshop situated
in Valencia (Spain), where it Works the Sanchis family. Mr. Ricardo
Sanchis Carpio, his wife, Mrs. Araceli López Jarque and their sons David and
Germán Sanchis López, and three people more working as assistants.
Ricardo, David and Germán, are the luthiers of all the guitars made in the
workshop. Besides, the guitars of Hermanos Sanchis López, they don´t have
any piece made outside and they are made completely in the workshop. So,
they are also dedicated to choose and to prepare the woods, to varnish and
to finish all the guitars and also others works like office and public relations-
hip in events and fairs. Araceli, is the sales manager, customer support and
accounting.
Actually, the production by a year is between eighty and hundred guitars, it
depending of the quality of them.
Its motto continues being the same of Ricardo Sanchis Carpio´s: Try to im-
prove day by day every detail of the instrument, adapting them and evolving
to the needs of the guitarist.
Taller
Las maderas que se utilizan son totalmente macizas y de alta calidad,
secadas de forma natural durante más de quince años como mínimo.
Dependiendo del material, como por ejemplo el ébano, que se utiliza para el
diapasón, en algunos casos es necesario un secado natural durante más de
veinte años.
Se sigue trabajando de una manera totalmente artesanal con el tipo de cons-
trucción tradicional español, en el cual se comienza primero con las tapas.
Las eligen dependiendo de su calidad, se calibran, se incrustan las rosetas y
por último se encola el varetaje.
Se preparan los mástiles, dependiendo de las guitarras que se vayan a hacer,
los preparan para flamenco o para clásico ya que el tiro y zoquete, varían de
un estilo a otro.
Después se eligen los aros, se calibran y se doman. Tras esto se eligen los
fondos para que tengan unas vibraciones y estética, compatibles con los aros.
Una vez se tienen todos los materiales preparados, se empieza con el montaje.
All the woods they use are totally solid and high quality, drying in they started to prepare the material.

for example ebony, it needs more than 20 years to get the correct drying.
Work continues in a totally handcrafted way with the traditional Spanish
construction way, starting first with the tops. They choose them depending
of the quality. They put the rosettes and finally they glue the bars.
Necks are prepared depending if they are destined to flamenco or to a clas-
sical guitar.
Later they choose the sides. They are calibrated and bended. After that they
choose the backs to have a vibration and esthetic compatible with the sides.
Then they start to make the guitars with all the parts ready.
Taller
Taller
Se une la tapa al mástil, se acoplan los aros, se montan las cadenas y se
encola el fondo. Se insertan los filetes decorativos, se encola el diapasón
y se termina el zoquete y el mástil.
Una vez terminado el montaje del instrumento, ya está todo preparado para
pasar a barniz. En este momento, ya se llevan unas siete semanas desde que se
empezó a preparar el material.
El proceso de barnizado dura unas cuatro semanas, ya que se aplican capas muy
finas que se dejan secar y después se lijan con mucho cuidado, para limpiar el
poro sin pelar el barniz.
Ya tenemos la guitarra bien brillante, pero todavía no está terminada, ya que en
este momento, todavía falta repasar uno a uno todos los trastes, hacer huesos,
poner clavijero, golpeador en las flamencas y cuerdas. Esto no se hace hasta que
la guitarra no se vaya a entregar al cliente, ya que así, la guitarra estará recién
terminada y su nuevo dueño será el primero en tocarla.
Una vez preparada para la entrega, queda una de las cosas más importantes del
instrumento: La prueba de calidad. Se prueban todas las cuerdas en todos los
trastes para descartar posibles cerdeos.
Se vuelve a revisar que todo esté en perfectas condiciones y entonces sí que po-
demos decir que la guitarra está terminada!!
Todas las guitarras de Hermanos Sanchis Lopez, tienen garantía de construc-
ción de por vida y también una garantía para posibles ajustes en la guitarra en
los primeros años.
It is joined the top with the neck, they put the sides and later the back
is glued to the body. They insert the decorative bending, it is glued the
fingerboard and the neck is finished with the final shape.
Once the guitar is finished, it is time to the varnish. They take seven weeks since
The process of varnishing takes four weeks more or less, because very thin layers
are applied and they are sanded carefully.
The guitar is bright now, but it is not finished. Every fret has to be checked, make
the saddles, put the tuners and strings. Everything that is made when the guitar
is going to be sold to a client, who is going to be the first in playing it.
Once the guitar is ready to be given, one of the most important things: The qua-
lity test. All the strings are tested in every fret.
If everything it is OK, the guitar is finished at all!!
Every guitar of Hermanos Sanchis López, has all life warranty as construction
and a warranty for possible adjusts in the first years of the guitar.
