    Adam has started his first day at a new nursery called An-Nur. He is settling in with the help of his sister Lamis being there. The letter acknowledges that it will be an adjustment for Adam to be away from his mother but encourages that he will soon see An-Nur as a second home. So far on his first day, Adam has been communicating non-verbally by pointing, holding teachers' hands, observing other children and teachers, and feeling safe when held. He is beginning to adjust to new routines, people, and environments.

    Welcome to An-Nur, Adam.

    This is your first day at an-nur& I am getting

    to know you. Having your sister Lamis here is

    great for you as you can feel safe beside her.

    During the settling time, you may find it hard

    to be away from your Mum, but it wont take

    long and you will be so busy, you will soon

    think of An-Nur as a second home!

    The story so far…


    You are learning about your new environment. Today I have seen you communicate with

    teachers by pointing to things that interested you, you were happy to lead

    the teachers by the hand.

    you are observing the other children & teachers. At the moment you feel

    safe being held by a teacher. Soon you will be making lots of new friend-

    ships and growing your confidence. We love to see you smile when we take

    your photo! You will be learning a lot in the beginning of your time here, new

    routines, new faces, new spaces and objects. You are beginning to feel safe at An-nur

    Salaam alaikum Liz
