ISLAMABAD (APP): The National Economic Council (NEC)
on Wednesday approved National Development Outlay 2019-
20 amounting to Rs 1.837 trillion including Federal Public Sec-
tor Development Programme (PSDP) and Provincial Annual
Development Programmes (ADPs).
The NEC meeting, headed by Prime Minister Imran Khan,
reviewed Annual Plan 2018-19 and the proposed Annual Plan
2019-20.
The  meeting  approved  Gross  Domestic  Product  (GDP)
growth target of 4% along with sectoral growth of agriculture
(3.5%) industry (2.2%) and services sector (4.8%) for finan-
cial year 2019-20.
The meeting reviewed draft 12th Five Year Plan (2018-23).
It was informed that main themes of the 12th Five Year Plan
include balanced and equitable regional development; sustain-
able, inclusive, job-creating export-led growth; resource mobi-
lization and improving governance; improving social protec-
tion; ensuring food and water security, enhancing connectivity,
promoting knowledge economy and Clean and Green Pakistan.
The NEC approved 12th Five Year Plan (2018-23), in prin-
ciple. It was decided that the plan will be further fine-tuned,
especially its implementation mechanism, in consultation with
all stakeholders.
The meeting reviewed Pu blic Sector  Developm ent
Programme  (PSDP) 2018-19 and the  proposed PSDP  2019-
20.
It was informed that PSDP 2019-20 focuses on new initia-
tives in the field of agriculture, information technology, higher
education, science & technology and technical education and
training. The meeting was informed that targeted interventions
will be made in the less developed districts of the country to
bring them at par with other parts of the country for regional
equalization.
Ten billion Tsunami Program, Prime Minister’s Youth Skill
Development  Initiative, rehabilitation  of affected  population
residing along Line of Control, construction of Gilgit-Shandur-
Chitral Road and improvement of sewerage and sanitation sys-
tem of Gilgit, and development of merged districts of Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa are some of the major priority areas of Public
Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2019-20.
The Progress Report of CDWP and ECNEC from 1st April
2018  to 31st  March  2019 was  laid  before the National  Eco-
nomic Council.
The NEC confirmed extension in powers of Special Forum
for Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in FATA (erstwhile) till
December 2019. The Special Forum, under the Chairmanship
of  Commander  11  Corps,  was  established  by  the  NEC  on
30.05.2016 for a period of two years for fast track implemen-

leased by IRSA, water level in
the  Indus  River  at  Tarbela
Dam was 1407.96 feet, which
was 21.96 feet higher than its
dead level of 1,386 feet.
Water inflow in the dam
was recorded as 64,300 cusecs
while  outflo w  as 50,000
cusecs. The water level in the
Jhelum River at Mangla Dam
was 1150.50 feet,  which was
110.50  feet  higher  than its
dead level of 1,040 feet whereas
the inflow and outflow of wa-
ter  was  recorded  as  46,200
cusecs and 60,000 cusecs re-
spectively. The release of wa-

Wazir sit together for talks”, he asserted.

visas to international students
from Pakistan and other coun-
tries  who  plan  to start  busi-

Fruits’ export up by
6 pc in 10 months
ISLAMABAD  (APP):  The
export of fruits from the coun-
try  witnessed  an  increase  of
6.37  percent  during the  first
10  months  of  current fiscal
year against the exports of the
corresponding  period  of  last
year.
The  fruits’  export  from
the country were recorded at
$ 380.869 million during July-
April  (2018-19)  against  the
exports  of  $358.062  million
during  July-April  (2017-18),
showing a growth of 6.37 per-
cent,  according  to Pakistan
Bureau of Statistics.
In terms of quantity, the
export of the fruits witnessed
an  increase  of  10.65  percent
from 721,146 metric  tons  to
651,758 metric ton, according
to the data.
On the  other  hand,  the
vegetables  exports  from  the
country witnessed a decreased
of 1.18 percent by going down
from $203.257  million last
year  to  $200.859 during the
current fiscal year.
In terms of quantity, the
exports from the country also

risk to financial stability in the
eurozone, the European Cen-
tral Bank said Wednesday.
“A potential trade war is
perhaps  the  main risk,  the

bility,”  ECB  vice-president
Luis  de  Guindos  said in a
Frankfurt press conference.

Pakistan Railways deficit

ISLAMABAD  (APP):  The
deficit  of  Pakistan  Railways
has decreased by Rs 0.059 bil-
lion (0.24%)  despite  the  in-
crease  of expenditure on  ac-
count of pay, pension and fuel
from July 2018 to March 2019
as  compared to the  corre-
sponding period of the last fi-
nancial year.
Pakistan Railways  has
spent Rs 1.207 billion on ac-
count of  pay,  Rs  0.0468  bil-
lion for pension and Rs 2.729
billion  for  fuel, an  official  in
the Ministry of Railways told

Supply  Company  (QESCO)
has decided to launch an ex-
tensive  drive against  the  de-
faulters of electricity bills and
arrears including the provincial
and federal government depart-
ments in the Balochistan prov-
ince. According to the spokes-
man of QESCO, the company
is  going  to d isconnect  the
power connections of those not
paying their bills and dues.
A  special  campaign  has
been launched for recovery of
the dues from the government
departments and  the  private
institutions. In this regard, no-
tices have been issued to all the
defaulters so that they may pay
their bills. However,  no  posi-
tive  response  has  been  come
from the concerned defaulters
as yet, he maintained.
Therefore,  it  has  been
started to disconnect the elec-
tricity connections  of  the de-
faulter  departments,  which
have failed to make payments
of the arrears payable against
them.
Among  the  provincial
government departments, Pub-
lic  Health  Engineering (PHE)
has to pay the highest amount

GoB decides to
computerize
arms licenses
in Balochistan

QUETTA:  The  Government
of Balochistan has decided to
computerize all arms licenses
in the province.
According to  an official
hand  out  issued  by  the  pro-
vincial Home Department on
Wednesday, it has been decided
to allocate Rs. 160 million in
the next financial year budget
to ensure implementation on
the  computerization  of  arms
licenses.
The  Home  department
said that the process of com-
puterization  of arms  licenses
would be started in the month
of August this year.
The process to be started
from Quetta, then the arms li-
censes would be computerized
in all the district in the phases.
The process of issuance
of licenses, their renewal and
cancellation would  also  be
made  easier with  process  of
their computerization,  it  was
further mentioned.

mountaineer Mohammad Ali
Sadpara  of  Skardu  climbed
8485-metre Makalu peak  on
May 24  in Nepal,  the  fifth
highest mountain in the world.
Sadpara became the only
Pakistani mountaineer to have
climbed seven  peaks of over
8,000 meters in the world.
His expedition was facili-
tated  by Pakistan Army,  the
Inter-Services  Public  Rela-

Zardari, Talpur’s interim
bail extended till Thursday
ISLAMABAD  (APP):  The
Islamabad High Court (IHC)
Thursday extended former
president Asif Ali Zardari and
his  sister  Faryal  Talpur’s  in-
terim bail till tomorrow in ref-
erences  pertaining  to  mega
money  laundering  through
fake bank accounts.
The bench also ex-
pressed displeasure with Na-
tional Accountability  Bureau
(NAB) for not  providing de-
tails  of  cases  against  Zardari
and  Talpur in  compliance  of
its orders.

sisted transactions in fake ac-
counts. Justice Farooq asked
the  petitioners’  counsel  that
from where  Rs  15  millions
were  transferred  into  the  ac-
count  which  had  been  oper-
ated by Talpur.

Regulatory Authority
(PEMRA)  gran ted three
weeks time to eight broadcast-
ing companies to deposit  ear-
nest  money  of their offered
bids.
The  directio ns were
given in the PEMRA’s 150th
