INTRODUCTION
This project sent by the Ministry of Education, to calculate the area of a grazing field and the
dimension of the plot of land. A loan was borrowed and a ten (10) year period was given to repay
with interest accurate representation of the facilities that was needed to be included on the plot of
land.
After gathering information, it was summed up to get a concept of the project.

ACKNOWLEGDEMENT
I would like to express my gratitude to my Mathematics teacher “Sir Trevor Samaroo” for his
guidance and the support he gave me during the completion of this project.
I would also like to extend thanks to the Principal of my school and to my loving and caring parents
for their undivided attention in the assistance of this project.

(a) Your petition for an agriculture development project has been approved and you have
rewarded a plot of land measuring 0.4 km x 0.3 km. To complete the project, you took a
loan of fifteen million ($15,000,000) dollars from the bank and this loan is to be repaid
over ten (10) year at a simple interest rate of 5% per annum

The following must be included in your plot:

 A horse stable the area of which should not exceed 600m2

Using a rectangular horse stable:

Area =LxH

= 60m x 10m

= 600m2

 a square health facility with length 20m2

Area = L2

= 202

= 400m2

 one suitable facility of your choice (your selected dimension)

Using a triangular storage bond:

𝟏
Area =𝟐BxH

𝟏
= x 40m x 30m
𝟐

= 600m2

 Crop farming area of 3600m2.

Area =LxH

= 18m x 200m

= 3600m2

The remaining area will be used for animal grazing.

(b) Draw a diagram, with dimensions to show the total area of your land, showing clearly the
additions (See Appendix)

1. Calculate:
The interest that will be accrued over the 10 years.
Answer:
PRT
SI =
100
15000000 x 5 x 10
SI =
100
SI = $7,500,000

The amount to be paid to the bank if you repaid in half the time.
Answer:
15,000,000 × 5 × 5
SI =
100
SI = $3,750,000

Amount to be paid = 3,750,000 + 15,000,000

Amount to be paid = $18,750,000

2. State, with supporting reasons and calculations, whether you would prefer to repay over
the ten-year period or in the half time.

The research would rather to repay in half time because the calculations done above, has
shown that if you repaid within the 10-year period you will have to pay a large amount of
interest while if you repaid with half time you will have to repay less.

3. Draw a scaled plan detailing the layout of your entire plot of land, showing in m 2 the
dimension of your facilities and highlight the area that will be used for the animal grazing.
(See Appendix)

Scale: 1m = 0.125cm

Horse Stable
Length = 60 × 0.125 = 7.5cm
Height = 10 × 0.125 = 1.25cm

Health facility
Length = 20 × 0.125 = 2.5cm

Storage bond
Base = 40 × 0.125 = 5cm
Height = 30 × 0.125 = 3.8cm

Farming area
Length =200 × 0.125 = 25cm
Height =18 × 0.125 = 2.25cm

IMPLEMENTATION
On March 15th, 2019. The researcher received the project where it was discussed by the teacher.
On April 16th, 2019 selected project one (1) and gather information on April 18th, 2019.

On April 29th, 2019 the researcher started to type out the project and worked according to their
action plan.

REPORT
On the first day, the author/researcher with the help of the teacher, successfully identify a project
of the researcher choice. He (author/researcher) then successfully discuss the project with his
teacher and started to plan out his project. On the second day, the author/researcher started to
construct his cover page, introduction, acknowledgement, content page and a conclusion.
Discussion and calculations was done to solve equations, also representation of the calculations
was shown on drawings using specific scales. On the third day, finalized the project with the help
of the teacher and did final touch ups. Then printed the original copy and handed it up on the
submission date.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion the researcher has learnt a lot from this project. Important information was obtain
from this project. Researcher also has learnt different ways to find Simple Interest and Area which
can come to great use in the future.

APPENDIX

Area of a Rectangle = Base × Height

Area of a Square = Base × Height

Area of a Square = s2
A square, technically speaking, is a rectangle (don't remind the rectangle, it's a little
sensitive), so we can use the formula for the area of a rectangle to find the area of a
square. Since a square's base and height are equal, the area of a square is also side
length times side length, or side length squared. We're way too lazy to write out "side
length" so we're going to abbreviate it as s, which makes Area = s2.
