According to the authors Dickenson-Coddington of our text book titled “Teaching Outside The Box” the Standards
for Mathematical Practice “describe the habits of mind students need to practice during the development of skills and
knowledge across grades K-12 mathematics” (Dickenson-Coddington pg.28) I selected the tools Kahoot! And Quizizz
that was located on teacherpreptech.com provided by chapter 2 of Teaching Outside The Box. These two Apps are
excellent in that they provide students with fun and interactive quiz games that is similar to Jeopardy! These assessments
can range from vocabulary building to fluency. And with fractions, the App provides an enriched learning experience that
challenges the students and gives them confidence. It allows for motivation and student interaction as well as team/group
building. I also have used the website Braining Camp and I feel it provides excellent manipulatives for fractions and can
absolutely help my EL learners. The ISTE standard for students that my resource addresses is “Empowered Learner”
because my students can leverage the Apps to take an active role in choosing the answer they believe to be correct, and
by achieving and demonstrating competency in their learning goals. The stage of the SAMR model that Kahoot and
Quizizz offers is “Enhancement” because my students will already know how to multiply fractions, now they must show me

they know how to represent the product using an area model. The Apps will enhance their knowledge of vocabulary and
strategies.
