1 Introduction
The actuator is small, compact in its form, and provides high torque at low RPM.
The integrated controller and electronics enable the following programming possible:
Rotation direction, rotation speed, torque and position, and could easily be connected to
any supervisory control systems.
Operation reliability.
™ QT250 2.0 has enclosure in anodized aluminum and watertight
according to IP68. An optical absolute encoder with adjustable end points replaces the
traditional mechanical end-switches.
™ QT250 2.0 is kept dry in almost all operating environments, by
utilizing the motor coils as self-regulated motor heating elements.
This will also keep the preservation costs in the operating period to a minimum.
User manual.
This user manual is based on NS 5820 and NS-EN 292-2.
The user manual should be kept available in order to be easily accessed if needed.

The actuator must be correctly adapted to the valve, see section 2.8 Outline
dimensions QT250 2.0, and data sheet for valve and process.
By use of valves with mechanical end-switches, the operating wheel must be used
with care! (The gear power transmission is 1:82).
The actuator must be connected to correct power supply, 230V AC 50/60 HZ and
operated within given temperature limits, see section

2.5 Choice of duty type
The Choice of duty type will determine the selection of the applicable motor. The IEC 34
recommendations have established several duty standards for motors permitting
application for on site Operating Conditions.
To be followed by the duty rating in % as well as the number of start per hour.

3 Technical description
3.1 General
™ QT250 2.0 is a valve actuator; and should be operated only as such. The
actuator should not be electrically connected or run unless mounted on valve.
™ QT250 2.0 is designed for 0 - 90° valves where operating torque up to
250Nm is required.
The actuator has no mechanical end-switches, but an optical absolute encoder with adjustable
end points.
3.2 Enclosure
Profile: Anodized Aluminum (AL6063).
Cover over
operating wheel: ABS antistatic.
3.3 Motor
Construction: Step motor, transversal flux.
Number of poles: 48
Heat element: The motor coils are also utilized as heating elements.

4 Installation
4.1 Installation
Mounting: ™ QT250 2.0 can be optionally mounted,
but a hanging position should be avoided.
Valve flange: Guide-rings: F05, F07 and F10, according to ISO 5211.
Other types of guide-rings are delivered upon request.
Adapters: Square 17x17 (45°)
Other types of adaptors are delivered upon request.
See section 5 Ordering information. Brackets and adapter-
extender for different types of valves can also be delivered
upon request.
™ QT250 2.0 is provided with the guide-rings F05, F07 and F10
(according to ISO 5211) for valve flange and shaft, to adapt the different valve sizes.
See section 5 Ordering information.
Adjust the actuator’s adapter and guide-ring to the valve, by turning both the valve
and the actuator to closed position.
(The arrow in centre of operating wheel is pointing towards ’closed’, see fig. left).

4.3 Assembling
QT250 2.0 has to be connected with a interface mounted together with plug-connector.
The connection must be done in powerless condition. For more information see user
manuals for (CANopen 2.0, Digital 2.0, CANopen 2.1 Ex, Digital 2.1 Ex)
5 Operation
5.1 Start, normal operation, stop and manual operation
Checklist of controls which should be carried out before start of
™ QT250 2.0, is described in section 4 Installation and preparation
Configurations and input/output signals depends of interface types,
see user manual interface.
The hand wheel can also operate ™ QT250 1.0
6 Maintenance
6.1 General
™ QT250 2.0 is in principle a maintenance-free actuator, the
enclosure is dust- and waterproof, the end limit switches are consisting of electronic
optical slot readers, and the motor coils are also utilized as self-regulated motor heating
elements to keep the actuator dry in exposed operating environments.
All installation regarding power supply and electronics should always be performed by
authorized personnel.
By exchange of Interface, limits for 0° - 90° must be recalibrated. This must be done by
qualified personnel. Interface can not be switch between actuators, this will affect the
function of the actuator.
• Check if the Interface board is correctly installed, and the control cable is terminated
according to wiring diagram for ™ Interface.
See user-manuals interface.
• Connect the programming equipment and check if the configurations are correct in
relation to the valve, considering operating torque, speed and opening grades.
• Check if the actuator runs free by turning the operating wheel when the power is
switched off, and if the actuator has a holding torque after the power is switched on
again.
• Check if the actuator position is within the working range (0-90°), if not, operate it
without power to the right 90° segment.
