The key achievements of your work on the unit (maximum 100 words)

 Experimenting with new materials

 Exploring different fonts and words to see how they can be manipulated to
present my theme
 Looking at the process of what an archive could be and what it could be used
for in the future
 Creating very simple work with a strong theme that can stand alone
 Having a clear path of what I wanted to explore and keeping on top of my
research journal throughout the year

The most useful things that you learnt (maximum 100 words)

 Working with new people to set up for degree show and solving problems that
arose in the space together
 Exploring the difficulties with working with new materials and the health and
safety issues that came with it
 Keeping track of all my work throughout the year made it a lot easier to spend
more on my degree show piece
 How to set up a space for an exhibition
 Finding the right materials that best suited my work
 Learning how to find materials that worked with my theme that I could afford

The issues that you found challenging and how you set about overcoming
them (maximum 100words)
  Working with the space given for the degree show was difficult as we had
issues with the walls pealing but working with people in my space we were
able to solve the problem quickly by using PVA glue and polyfilla
 The cost of creating my degree show piece was difficult but I managed to find
cost effective solutions; using torches instead of pinhole lights
 To make sure that the lights weren’t knocked when they we’re on the floor I
used thin strips of Velcro so that the torches could be easily picked up but also
gave people direction as to where they we’re meant to be positioned

List what you now consider to be the main areas for development that you
intend to focus on in the next unit? (maximum 100 words)

 I want to develop my work by exploring more collaborative work as I believe

it would be interesting to get other people’s views about how they want their
personal archive to be used in the future
 Experimenting with work on a larger scale
 Combining more of photo diary work with my University practice
 Creating more final pieces rather than constant development work
 Explore projection more and how other materials react to light
 Create more work that explores the relationship between digital and analogue
