DOST-PSTC Nueva Vizcaya Awarded 8 Sets of Portasol Multi Purpose Drying

facilities to Community Base Organizations (CBOs) of Brgy Runruno

CHAI, SDWAI and MRWAI officers (left photo) received the portasol (portable solar drying facilities) from DOST and Ms. Amy Fe
Adap-Special Project Staff (left photo) giving a response message during the Awarding Ceremony.

Ms. Florita D. Sinot-Project Assistant II of the Provincial Science and Technology Center at Bayombong demonstrated on how to
use the portasol.
Linkaging the CBO’s in order to access to the different programs and projects of the Department of Science and
Technology (DOST) through its Provincial Science and Technology Center at Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya is a pursuit
that the Community Relations Office of FCF Minerals needs to strengthen.
Fortunately, eight Community Based Organizations (CBO’s) of Brgy. Runruno, Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya which are
registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) received portasol multi-purpose drying facilities. Some
officers of the three (3) organizations namely Cabinuangan Highlander Association Inc.(CHAI), Marangad Rural
Workers Association Inc. (MRWAI). and Sitio Dumaliguia Womens Associations Inc.(SDWAI) attended the ceremonial
awarding held at MLGU-Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya on February 14, 2019. The event was attended by the DOST
Regional Director Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang and PSTC Nueva Vizcaya Director Engr. Jonathan Nuestro.

In response, Ms. Amy Fe A. Adap, Special Project Staff, expressed her gratitude to DOST through PSTC Nueva
Vizcaya and hopeful that Brgy. Runruno and the Municipality of Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya could access also to other
programs and projects of the office.

On the other hand, portasol, a product of Filipino Inventors Society Producer Cooperative, is the new fast, safe and clean way
of drying grains on any grounds away from roads and highways.
Meanwhile, Ms. Florita Sinot, Project Assistant II of PSTC Nueva Vizcaya, discussed the Memorandum of Agreement
and the terms and conditions. She also gave an actual demonstration on how to use the Portasol to the recipients.

It is the goal of FCF Minerals Community Relations Office to integrate sustainability in the implementation of the
programs, projects and activities under the Social Development and Management Program. As such assisted CBOs
in the host and neighboring communities are being worked out towards institutionalization. Since one of the major
component of institutionalizing an organization is having a legal personality, CBOs in Barangay Runruno scaled-up by
registering with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Being a registered organization, it strengthens their
capability to build linkages with private and government agencies resulting to improved services to their members.
