1.3. ABBREVTATIONSANDDEFINITTONS
calibrated airspeed meens indiceted airspeed of an aircraft, corrected for position
and instrument error. Calibrated airspeed is equal to true airspeed in standard
atmosphere at sea level.
EAS - Equivarent sircpeed means the caribrated airspeed of an aircrafl corrected
for
adiabatic compressibre frow effect for the particular artitude. Equivarent
airspeed is
equal lo calibrated airspeed in standard atmosphere al sea level.
Indiceted.airspeed means the speed of an aircraft as shown on its pitot static
airspeed indicator calibrated to reflect standard atmosphere ediabatic
cornpressible flow effect at sea ievel unconected for airspeed syslem
erors.
TAS - True airspeed means the airspeed of an aircraft rerative to undistributed
air. True
airspeed is equal lo equivalent airspeed multiplied by
(qo /q ) 1/2.
I o = specific weight of air at sea level
Q = specific weight of air at specified altitude.
ISA I nternational standard atmosphere.
MAC Mean aerodynamic chord.
Design maneuvering speed.
Maximum flaps extended speed.
Vrue Max. never-exceed sDeed.
Max. normal operating limit speeo.
Vso Stalling speed in the landing conliguralion.

GENERAL
The CONCORDE RG 24-20 aircraft accumulalor battery supersedes the battery GILL G-246 or PS 12-24
installed on Z 142 airctafl.
The aircraft accumulator battery CONCORDE RG 24-20 is located in the carrier on the left side of the
fuselage under baggage compartment. To entrance to battery is necessary open left side cover.
lnstructions for battery maintenance, checking, inspection and storage are described in Supplement No. 7
of Technical Manual of the Z 142 aicrafl..
SECTION 1 - GENERAL
1.5.9 Equipment
The alrcraft accumulator battery CONCORDE RG 24-20 serves as auxiliary electric source and
consists from 12 lead - acid cells, connected in series. The open circuit voltage ot the 12-cell
battery is approximately 24 V. Open circuit voltage is the voltage of the battery, when it is not
connected to a load.
Each cell of accumulator battery has positive and negative plates arranged alternately and
insulated from each other by separators. Each plate consists of a framework, called the plate grid
and the active material fixed in the plate grid. The plate grid is cast from lead altoy,

If the unit detects an tnternal failure. the screen displays FAIL. \Vhen FAIL rs annunciated

Mode 5 Data Transmission
ln addition to 4096 code and pressure altitude, the GTX 328 is capable of transmitting
aircraft identification, transponder capability and maximum speed range. "Aircraft
ldentification" is commonly referred to as FLT iD (Flight ldentifrcation). The GTX 328 may
be configured by the installer to allow the Ilight crew to enter FLf ID for each flighr An
example is when air-carrier service requires changing the FLI ID.
The FLT ID may consist of the aircraft registration or a flight number as agreed upon wth
the local aviation authoriqi In either case, the FLT ID must be the same aircraft identificadon
that appears in the flight plan to conelate the aircraft identification seen on ATC radar wirh the
lf no flight plan is filed u'rth the aviation authority (as
correct voice call sign for the aircraft.
may be permitted by regulations), the FLT ID entered is the aircraft registration marking.
When flight crew entry of the FLI ID is not required, the installer configures the
tstem to rcport the aircraft rdentification according to local aviation requirements. In this
configuration, alteration of Lhe FLT ID by the fiight crew is not possible.
space, the GTX 328 automatically removes the spaces upon completion of Flight ID entryr

No person may operate an aircraft to which an Airworthiness Directive applies, except in accordance with the
requirements of that Airworthiness Directive unless otherwise agreed with the Aulhority of the Slate of Regjstry.
Zlin Z 42, Z 42M, Z 42MU, Z 1 42, Z 1 42C and Z 242L aircraft , all serial numbers
Applicability:
without the wino reinforcement modification
o lnstallation of G-load monitoring units on some Zlin Z 42 seties aircrafl has revealed
that the real intensity of aerobatic operation of some aircraft considerably exceeded
the original expectations that had been used io determine the operational limitations.
As a result, these aircraft exceeded the calculated 'total limit load'spectra and limit
design aerobatic load spectrum.
Further investigations determined the need to prohibit operations under the Aerobatic
("A") category for Zlin Z 42 series aircraft with non-reinforced wings and the need to
Reason: replace some airframe/wing attachment parts to maintain airworthiness of these
aircraft in the long term.
For the reason described above, this Emergency Airworthiness Directive (EAD)
prohibits "A" category flights for Zlin Z 42 seties aircraft with non-reinforced wings,
restricts certain aircraft to Normal ("N") category operations, iimits to 190 Flight Hours
(FH) the time that can be flown under "A" and Utility ("U") categories and introduces
new life limits and new inspections requirements to be inserted into the operators'
maintenance programmes.

1. For aircraft havinq accumulated more than 190 FH Time in "A + U" cateoorv:
Before further flight after the effective date of this directive:
'1.1 Modify the Aircraft Fight ftIanual (AFM) to introduce prohibition of
operations under the "A" and "U" catagories and to introduce the pre-flight
inspection of the upper wings bolts of the airframe/wing attachment as
instructed in the paragraph (S) 4.1.4lot Z 42 and Z 142 attcnft and in the S 4.4

inadvertently removed or hidden, to introduce the following information:
AEROBATIC & UTILITY FLIGHTS PROHIBITED
Note 1: Inserting a copy of this AD into the AFM is considered as acceptable to comply
