MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE

Reederei Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler & Reederei, Hamburg

Pretreatment

General :
Area to be treated to be free of oil, grease, dirt, salt-deposits, and other contaminants.

Salt-deposits to be removed by means of rinsing with clean fresh water.

Oil and grease to be removed by means of a suitable de-greaser, preferably a water soluble type.

De-rusting :
Rust to be removed by means of rotating steelbrush and/or carborundum disks and/or scotch brite
in order to have a sound clean substrate free of rust.
The surface to be clean and dry, free of dirt, salt and other contaminants before application of the
coating.
As alternative we recommend Hydro Blasting with a minimum pressure of 800 bar.
Before application surface has to be dry, ginger rust should removed after 2 - 3 days.

Epoxy Paint Preparation and application:

Always follow instructions for the proper mixing of the base with curing agent. Mixing ratio is mentioned
on the label or in our technical data sheet.

Mixing to be done by bosum using the mechanical mixer.

Wait 15 to 20 minutes after mixing for applacitaion.

Don't use any thinner for application by brush or roller. Umeguard SX is a surface tolerant Epoxy Primer
which allows one coat application up to 100 microns dft by roller or brush after fully reaction of
both components. Overcoation period is unlimited.

Use thinner, max 5 %, only for airless application.

Don't apply below + 5° C.

Alkyd and Acrylic Application:

Area to be painted to be free of any contamination and has to be dry.

Don't apply Finish Coats in the late afternoon. Humidity influence drying time and final gloss.

High air temperature influence viscosity of paint (down) and and in addition steel temperature reduce
drying time so fast, that due to solvent retention film surface can be infected negative.

Application of Finish Coats should be done early morning time and not after long term temperature
over 30 °C.
