Jerry Haber Recognized as 2019 IAASS Jerome Lederer Space Safety Pioneer

The award serves a salute to his commitment and international contributions to the field of space
safety.

Concepts (ACC), is pleased to announce the recognition of Jerry Haber as the 2019 IAASS Jerome
Lederer Space Safety Pioneer in honor of his outstanding contributions to the field of space safety. As
Vice President of ACTA, Mr. Haber has served as an industry pioneer in risk analysis for space
operations, while fostering the development of a space safety culture that has left a lasting mark not only
on his company but the international space community as well.

Since 1968, Mr. Haber has been engaged in launch and reentry safety modeling and safety criteria
development & analysis - such modeling approaches for launch vehicle hazards have enabled
higher-fidelity risk evaluations that offer significant flexibility in launch planning. He began his career at
the Systems Technology Center of Lear Siegler developing flight safety models and software for
Vandenberg Air Force Base and the Navy at Point Mugu. After joining the J. H. Wiggins Company in
1972, he became a key member of the modeling and analysis team that created the modern approach for
flight safety analysis. His projects included the first third party risk analysis for the STS, various missiles,
and evaluation of the environmental impacts of range operations. Since joining ACTA in 1989, he has led
the development of common risk acceptability and risk analysis standards across the US and promoted
their international adoption. As Vice President of ACTA, Mr. Haber's work remains focused on providing
government agencies with the guidance and tools needed to assure public safety within domestic and
international launch communities.
