Prepared by:

KISHI NISSI A. DELA CRUZ

I. Learning Objectives
At the end of the lesson, 80% of the students will be able
to attain the following with at least 75% of proficiency:
a. Classify triangles according to their angles and
according to their sides;
b. illustrate the different kinds of triangles; and
c. differentiate the classifications of the triangles
using applicable definitions and terms associated
with a triangle.

II. Subject Matter

A. Topic
“CLASSIFICATIONS OF TRIANGLES”
B. Reference
 Orines, Fernando B.; Next Century Mathematics:

pp. 472-478
C. Materials
 Math book, instructional materials
D. Values Integration
 Respect for logic and persistence through
sustained work

III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Routinary Activities
 Prayer
 Managing of the Classroom
 Checking of Attendance
2. Recapitulation of the Previous Lesson
 What is a Triangle and its basic parts?
B. Motivation
 “TRI LOGIC” - For this activity, the teacher will show on the
board a puzzle that is composed of sticks. The students will solve
for the puzzle by using only three moves. The first student to
finish that task will be declared as the winner.
C. Presentation of the Lesson
The teacher will ask the following questions to present the
lesson:
 What are the things that you have observed about the activity
that you did a while ago?
 Give concrete examples that shows the illustration of triangles.
The activity that you did a while ago is much related to our
topic for today which is “CLASSIFICATIONS OF TRIANGLES.”
D. Lesson Proper
CLASSIFICATIONS OF TRIANGLES
Triangles can be classified according to measures of their
angles and according to the lengths of their sides.
* According to the Measures of Their Angles
1. Acute Triangle – is a triangle in which all angles are acute.
2. Right Triangle – is a triangle in which one of the angles is a
right angles.
3. Obtuse Triangle – is a triangle in which one of the angles is
obtuse.
4. Equiangular Triangle – is a triangle in which all angles are
congruent.
* According to the Lengths of their Sides
1. Scalene Triangle – is a triangle with no congruent sides.
2. Isosceles Triangle – is a triangle with at least two congruent
sides.
3. Equilateral Triangle – is a triangle with all sides congruent.
E. Generalization
1. What are the classifications in identifying triangles?
2. What are the classification of triangles according to the
measures of their angles?
3. What are the classification of triangles according to the
lengths of their sides?
4. How do you differentiate the two classifications of triangles?

IV. Evaluation (1/2 crosswise, 10 pts.)

A. Classify each triangle according to its sides and angles.

1. 4.

2. 5.

3.

B. Change each underlined word to make each sentence always true.

1. An equiangular triangle is scalene.

2. An equilateral triangle is isosceles.
3. A scalene triangle is isosceles.
4. An acute triangle is right.
5. A right triangle is equilateral.

V. Assignment (1/2 crosswise, 10 pts.)

Draw a triangle that satisfies the indicated condition.
1. A scalene right triangle
2. An isosceles right triangle
3. An acute equilateral triangle
4. An obtuse scalene triangle
5. An acute isosceles triangle
